If you were freaking out on us about those "leaked" Gears of War 2 achievements the other day, calm down and relax. It’s okay. According to Microsoft, only about "60%" of them were actually "leaked," with the remaining ones set to be revealed today.
IGN, in cooperation with GearsofWar.com, got the scoop on the anticipated game’s nerd points; and while some the previously revealed ones are still present (hello, "Seriously 2.0"), there are others that will surely make you proclaim "Wow!" Be warned, once again, that many of the following achievements are completely located in Spoiler City; but you know that already, don’t you?
Some of the most interesting ones include "Party Like It’s 1999," "Hoard the Horde" and "Kick ‘Em When They’re Down." Oh, and remember back when CliffyB Cliff Bleszinski confirmed "linked achievements" at Comic-Con? Having certain achievements from the original Gears of War unlocked on your profile will net your some multiplayer goodies for GOW2. If you completed Act 1 in the first game, you’ll unlock a nifty playable Carmine multiplayer skin. Collected 10 COG tags? You just scored a Minh Young Kim skin. Make it all the way to the end of the first game and lay the smack down on General RAAM? Good, you can play as him in the sequel’s online mode.
Lastly, be sure to check out IGN’s interview with Cliff, as he provides some additional information on the sequel that you’re sure to get a kick out of. For example: Were you dumbstruck as to how Carmine could possibly be back in Gears 2 after, um, what "happened" in the first? It’s confirmed that it’s really his brother, Benjamin, in the hot seat now. Are those unlockable multiplayer characters listed above not enough? No sweat, there are even more that are waiting to be unlocked as you progress through the story. Games for Windows players, bad news. Let me let Cliff explain: "We’ve decided we’re not going to do a PC version this time around." Aww, boo! Well, let’s keep hope alive. Thats what he says now. Let’s see what happens when the NPDs start rolling in. If all else fails…another studio?
