While not totally an announcement, Electronic Arts has re-confirmed that Boom Blox 2 is in development, and is going to be released this Spring.
The game’s officially titled “Boom Blox Bash Party”, and the sequel is going to see another partnership between Steven Spielberg and EA. Bash Party has over 400 new levels, as well as unique environments underwater and in outer space, with the new locales affecting the basic physics and gameplay. Bash Party will also include downloadable content in the way of new levels, with direct downloads offered from EA as well as player-to-player level swapping so that you can make your level selections even more diverse. EA’s also promising better multiplayer support in the sequel, with the legendary director offering up this statement in support of the decision:
‘Boom Blox Bash Party’ is a wild social gaming experience. We know families and friends really enjoyed playing the original ‘Boom Blox’ together, so we designed more explosive multiplayer experiences with ‘Boom Blox Bash Party.’
Explosive, eh? As in, cute cartoon sheep that go boom? If so, how soon can we pre-order?
