How awesome will Mass Effect 2 be? Too awesome for one disc, according to BioWare.

Chris Priestly, community manager for BioWare, has stated on the BioWare forums that Mass Effect 2 will ship on two discs for both PC and Xbox 360. He goes on to explain that the PC version will not require a disc swap during play thanks to a full installation, but Xbox 360 players will not be so lucky.

“Even though there is a disc swap, it occurs at a carefully planned place in the game (that does not interfere with gameplay) and is done once,” Priestly said. “You do not swap back and forth. One swap and then done.”

Well, that’s a relief. No one likes having to get up from the comfort of their chairs to repeatedly swap discs whenever their character needs to cross the street. Also, if 360 owners only have to swap once, that suggests that the second disc is required for story purposes rather than the game’s world. I can live with that. I’ll just take the disc swap to mean things are about to get really good.
