The biggest week for video games is upon us again as we are mere hours away from the beginning of the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo. Monday is an especially huge day with press conferences being held by Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft and Sony. Nintendo is holding it’s show on Tuesday, giving it an entire day to itself. Keep your eye on Talking About Games as we’ll be covering every show and bringing you all the latest news.
Of course not everything surrounds the various press conferences. There is likely to be plenty of games shown off and brand new trailers released for all the hottest games. Even the week leading up to E3 produced some interesting news. The biggest event was easily the return of PlayStation Network. The last few remaining features came back online, most importantly the PlayStation Store. This also opened up the ability for gamers to finally get the items offered in Sony’s Welcome Back program. The other big story from this week was the announcement of Call of Duty Elite. Activision has been talking about ways to make more money off of Call of Duty and it sounds like they finally found a way. Other cool things include an amazing trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the Rockstar Pass for L.A. Noire.
Before you dive full into brand new games from this year’s E3 you should take a look at our three part retrospective on last year’s shows by Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. There are also two brand new reviews available for Hector: Badge of Carnage and L.A. Noire. You should also look forward to some big podcasts this week for in-depth analysis of all the big news from E3.
Just because this week is E3 doesn’t mean there won’t be any new games for you to play. The big game is inFAMOUS 2. The sequel to 2009′s hit PS3 exclusive, the second game looks to improve on what was already a really good game. Another big franchise receives a sequel with Red Faction: Armageddon. The series is famous for its amazing destruction and Armageddon looks to enhance players’ abilities to destroy but also adds the ability to repair. Other highlights include Black Ops Escalation finally making its way to PS3 and Operation Flashpoint: Red River.
