Earlier this evening Amazon leaked the much rumoured God of War IV, only it is called God of War: Ascension. The game has frequently been rumoured for the past few months and the rumours were ignited again this week when the Playstation Facebook account added a photo that read “Will Vengeance Bring Redemption? 04.19.12″.

Although Ascension doesn’t carry the God of War IV name the fact that it is on the PS3 at launch may mean that it is more than a mere spin off in the vein of the PSP games. The game has a tentative release on Amazon.com of December 31 2013, although that looks to be a placeholder. The leak on Amazon also came with a trailer, it doesn’t show gameplay footage but is what one might expect from an announcement trailer.
