Rumors have been abound for the past few weeks about EA launching a premium service for Battlefield. Well, today at their press conference, EA has detailed Battlefield Premium and it’s…concerning.
First, the good. When you subscribe for $50 you’ll get access to five DLC packs. The “Back to Karkland” DLC, which is already available is the first of them. The others are:
- Battlefield 3: Close Quarters – Intense, infantry-only theatre of war. Available today (For PS3 owners. For Xbox 360 owners, this will be available June 12).
- Battlefield 3: Armored Kill – All-out vehicle warfare coming September 2012.
- Battlefield 3: Aftermath – Coming December 2012.
- Battlefield 3: End Game – Coming March 2013.
That’s pretty cool, to be honest. You’ll also get a lot of different in-game items and access to exclusive Double XP weekends.
Of course, this is EA, so with every good there must be a bad. That comes in the form of “queue priority”, meaning you’ll likely have an easier time getting into multiplayer games. This might not be so bad, if EA hadn’t recently announced plans to have paid servers and to reduce the number of free servers. In addition, you’ll also get the ability to wipe your Win/Loss record…so, yea. EA.
