Patching games can be a somewhat complicated process. Recently, citing excessive costs of patching and the minimal number of people experiencing issues, Polygon said that they would not be patching Fez. While it could almost be excused, with Polygon being a small studio, one wouldn’t expect a company like Konami to refuse to issue a patch. That, however, seems to be the case.
After numerous users cited issues with the Silent Hill HD Collection, such as audio synching and frame-rate problems, Konami promised that a patch would be issued for the Collection. While the PS3 patch was issued today, Konami has announced that they will never patch the 360 version, citing “technical issues and resources.” Having played only a little bit of this collection, I can say that the 360 version of this collection is no where near up to par and it’s inexcusable that Konami won’t patch this title.
Again, you might be able to excuse a small company for not patching their games. There’s no excuse, though, that Konami can’t issue a patch simply because…well, it’s too tough.
PlayStation 3 Online Patch Deployed. XBOX 360 Patch No Longer Scheduled for Release
Today, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. announced that while a PlayStation®3 online title update for Silent Hill HD Collection has been deployed for download via PlayStation®Network, plans for an XBOX®360 title update have been cancelled due to technical issues and resources.
Understanding the issues some users are experiencing, KONAMI issued a title update for Silent Hill HD Collection (PS3), which fixed frame rate issues as well as audio-synching and other reported issues. KONAMI apologizes to any players who are continuing to experience these issues on the XBOX 360 sku.
