So all day today, you won't be able to frag opponents on Halo, get destroyed by a helicopter in COD:4, or have a fun Xbox Live Picture Party with your friends. No, today, Xbox LIVE will be down all day. I know, take a moment of silence.
Now many of you are probably thinking, "Man Holy Hitman, what ever can I do to make my day worth while now that Xbox LIVE isn't working?" Well, fear not faithful gamers, for I am about to bestow ten things that you can do today to occupy your precious time. Thank me after the jump.
So many times in the gaming industry, we hear the word "revolutionize". Most of the time, it is just building on something that was already there and improving it just a little bit so that it seems new. Other times, companies may venture into a new field and test the waters, sometimes failing horribly, like the exercise bike for the SNES, and other times, it will be a huge success, like the Wii.
Now, Microsoft wants to push the boundaries of gaming a little bit further, and go where the Wii was technologically incapable of going. Bring in Project Natal. Unveiled at E3, it probably left most of you with your jaw hanging wide open, and probably caused a few "no ways" to come out as well. I know it did for me. But will people actually buy into Project Natal? Will it be the downfall of the controller, and be the next step into a true virtual reality? Microsoft sure thinks so, but I might not be so ready to jump on the bandwagon just yet.
Part 1 is going to be a more broad overview of what Project Natal is, what has been shown so far, and the potential Project Natal has shown us thus far. Hit the jump to dive into the futuristic goodness!
Four months. Four long, grueling months since I have updated my blog. A lot has happened in four months. But do you want to hear about that? Of course not faithful readers, we have games to talk about!...but I might stray into a little bit of it anyway ;)
In this edition, I'm going to cover some this and thats and then we're diving straight into the content that you care about. Left 4 dead 2, already? Psyched or bummed, hear my reactions to the E3 news. Halo 3: OSDT costs how much? Really? It can't be true...but it is. Will it be worth the money? This and maybe a bit more inside this edition of The Weekly Rant.
Yes, I know it's Friday, but things need to be ranted about. In particular, the new Left 4 Dead DLC that was just announced yesterday. As you can probably guess, I'm not happy. Also, in the 2nd half of this weeks edition, I'm going to give my first impressions on the Halo Wars demo . Do I love or hate it? Your just going to have to hit the jump and find out!
So, here it is, 3:40am EST. And here I am, contemplating waiting up another two hours to get my hands on a game DEMO. Not having played a RTS since Starcraft, I don't know if I am more hyped about the fact that the word "Halo" is attached to the title, or the fact that they might of actually pulled off an alright RTS game on the console out of it. Everything I've heard from people who have already experienced the demo is positive, which makes the wait even harder. That, and all night they have been releasing more tid-bits like a premium theme (already bought) and the official trailer. The sad thing about it is, is that I couldn't help myself, and have already been on Youtube and watched the whole demo played through. It's alright though, it won't take away from the experience, for me anyway.
I'm hoping once the retail version drops, we can get some awesome game-nights going with this title. I can already tell you before I've even played the game, that I will probably be addidcted, and you guys wil see me on it probably more than Halo 3. Well. I might have to take that back. The Mythic Map pack that comes with the CE version of the game might actually draw my attention away fro Halo Wars for awhile. No matter though. I will have my first impressions on the Halo Wars Demo posted up later tomorrow after I've put a couple of hours into it, and will be looking forward to hearing what you guys think as well.
If anyone else happens to be up, Twitter me! and let's chat.
Due to some technical difficulties, which you can hear in more detail on Katana Squirrels' blog, the Holy-Squirrel Cast (still unofficially named) is postponed. The night is darkest just before the dawn, but believe me, the dawn is coming.
Weekly Rant VIII this week after all? Who knows. Stranger things have happened.
So, for those of you BLOG junkies hoping to catch The Weekly Rant VIII, then your going to be saddened. Instead, hit the jump and find out what I have in store for you this week. You'll be glad you did. =)
So, after readingThe Weekly Rant VIIover again, and then reading some comments and having a couple of discussions with you guys, I want to further explain my view on the causal market hurting the hardcore market, and explain my view more clearly, because I kind of even confused myself when I re-read it. Hit the jump to get things cleared up.
It hasn't been a good few weeks for gamers, and in TWR VII, I want to touch on Microsoft's layoffs over 5,000 employees, but mainly the layoffs dealing with CP and Major Nelson, and what effect this has on my views of how much Microsoftreally cares about its community. Read on, faithful...readers? =)
