I have an HD TV and my 360 is connected to it by an HDMI cable. How can I connect it to my surround sound amp? I did check to see if my TV can link to an amp via the phono cables and even though there are lots of spare sockets I couldnt appear to get that to work.
Also I thought id use the AV cable for the sound and the HDMI cable to carry the picture, but sadly I can only plug one cable in at a time to my 360.
How on earth can I get surround sound to work on my 360?
Your help is of course.......always welcome ......

... It's pretty uncommon (if not impossible) that a TV will convert the digital sound sent over the HDMI cable into analog (e.g.: phono cables). You should, however, have either an optical or co-ax digital out from your TV that you can feed into a spare digital audio input on your amp. Hope that helps! |

... I've got the same sort of set up. I've got my 360, PS3, and HD Cable DVR Hooked into my tv with 3 Hdmi cables. Hook your HDMI from your 360 to your tv(HDMI carries both video and audio). The tv should have some sort of digital audio out. Mine has an optical out. You only need one out to the receiver because the Tv acts acts as a hub. Connect the digital audio cable out from the tv to your receiver. That one cord will handle whatever audio you want to hear from the tv over your sorround sound system. Viola you should be hearing your games, movies, tv in 5.1 or 7.1 sound! |
