My blog posts

Sunday, June 07 2009 Diary of an E3 noob

For the last week, I had the incredible opportunity to experience what is, for most gamers, an item on top of the Wish List. That is, I got to attend E3. More accurately, I had the chance to cover E3 for TAG.

There was certainly an infinite supply of expectations flying around in my brain for the last few months. The closer we got to the show, the more those expectations flew out the window, and the more reality began to set in. The biggest difference between my mental images and the actuality of the event was the capacity in which I would be attending. I wasn't going to E3 to play a bunch of games and have a good time. Rather, I had a job to do. But of course, that didn't stop me from enjoying myself.

Over the next few days, I'll be posting some blog entries that will serve as a postmortem diary, of sorts. I'll do my best to recall the events that transpired over the course of the week. But more importantly, my goal is to paint a vivid picture of what it's like to cover the show, from the perspective of a first-time attendee.

Tonight's blog will cover the first two days of my time spent in Los Angeles. These two days were Sunday and Monday, immediately preceding the opening of the show floor.

For the record, this series of blog entries was directly inspired by the pieces that Eric Ford has put together over the last month.

The E3 journey begins after the jump.

I'll be completely honest, folks. I didn't plan on posting another blog until my "podcast" was finally ready. And before anyone asks, yes, it's coming. More on that later in this blog entry.

The real reason that I find myself in front of my computer right now is TAG. More accurately, it's the TAG community.

I don't want this to come off as terribly sappy. And I definitely don't want it to seem like I'm pushing for comments on this blog. But, I may not be able to avoid the overly enthusiastic tone of this whole thing.

Hit the jump to see what's got me feeling all warm and fuzzy.

Thursday, January 15 2009 A cry for help to the TAG community!

Hey everyone -

I hope y'all are having a toasty-warm day. It's -28 degrees with the wind chill here in lovely Columbus, Ohio. Fun, right?

Anyway, the reason I'm writing this is pretty simple. I don't really have any specific topic about which I want to talk. Really, I just have a few simple questions for the folks that regularly peruse the blog section here at TAG.

My plan is to do something special with my blog, aside from writing pointless rants about 1UP. Of course, with any special endeavor, a little market research is required. :-P

Hit the jump for my inquiry, and find out about my plans.

Monday, January 12 2009 Today is a day to remember!

Hey everyone -

I just figured I'd post a quick heads up here. My girlfriend decided to create an account on TAG a couple days ago. This is big news, since she is certainly not much of a gamer. She is, however, a giant geek, just like the rest of us.

Her name on here is:

jcesa1984

So play nice, and give her a warm welcome. Add her as a friend, and bait her into writing some blogs and talking on the forums. She's not mean to anyone except me. I promise.
