The DLC Future
After listening to episode 48 of PGR, Nelson Rodriguez brought up a comment that made me think of the future of DLC.......
I've never given DLC future ideology much thought, but I have to agree with Nelson. Visuals can only be improved to a certain point; and, with a good amount of quality games hitting bargain bins, games are going to have to move to the DLC route. If not, the future of gaming could hit a dead-end. As libraries continue to expand and give more players options, DLC could help deter the ability to resell games. As a consumer, I hate this idea. Even though my trade-in values are insulting, I can use some trade-in value towards another title. Also, physical media depreciates quicker due to shelve space availability. This added value to patient gamers will become obsolete, if media reaches a point were it's all digitally distributed. As a (sometimes) hardcore gamer, I feel that the need to go digital is needed. I know that we all want innovative games and new editions of old classics. This form of media helps to preserve the ability to allow the industry to keep growing. The real question is how much is the average gamer willing to sacrifice (the inability to buy older games at deep discounts and the ability to get some credit for games that get little or no attention) to purchase DLC and let the industry continue to develop?

Left4Dead Movie
I ran into an emergency last night and Netflix Instant Queue was there for the save. I knew that my company liked horror flix, so I quickly browsed the Top 50 and came upon Day of the Dead. Other than one actor that I can't take seriously, the movie was a pleasant surprise. The zombies acted very similar to the zombies in Left4Dead. During the movie, I kept smiling thinking about the resemblence. There aren't any Tanks, Witches, or Smokers; but if you enjoy playing the game, I would highly recommend adding this movie to your instant queue.
Enjoy. http://www.netflix.com/WiMovie/Day_of_the_Dead/70091029?trkid=188469

Simple Things Amuse Simple Minded People (ME!)
I finally decided it was time to purchase a universal remote. I've gotten tired of having company over and being required to be the pilot of the remotes. For example; if someone wants to watch t.v., they need to use the tv remote to turn on the tv, av receiver remote for the volume, and the cable box remote to change the channels. People generally try to use the tv or cable remote to do everything, unfortunately that has never worked. Plus, I'm not even going to get into details of my cd player, dvd player, hddvd player (stand alone Toshiba HD-A30), or blu-ray player. All require multiple remotes that only handle one or two actions. Now to my blog title! I purchased a Logitech Harmony 670, and I'm as excited as I was when I first got my He-Man big wheel. I can select "Watch TV" and the tv, cable box, and receiver all power on. Plus, all buttons are configured to control the correct device! Installion was a breeze! Now I can throw all those remotes into a dark and never before seen storage spot. Oh yeah, it also controls the 360! The directional pad and arrows also work for the marketplace and dvd playback! I think I died and went to heaven! :D
