Scenes from the "V" remake have hit the web
Anyone else here remember the original V back in the 80's? Marc Singer in all his glory, fighting as a member of the Resistance against the alien forces that came to take over our planet in a subtle and surreptitious fashion. Well, it's coming back soon. ABC is doing a remake of the original V miniseries. It stars Morena Baccarin (she played Inara on Firefly), Scott Wolf, Joel Gretsch, Alan Tudyk, and a few others. And from the early clips, it looks pretty awesome.

Family Guy spoofs Wrath of Khan, and it's awesome
OK, so it's not that difficult to spoof Star Trek, but it can be tough for most spoofs to be funny and hysterical while still being relevant to the overall plot. Of course, with Family Guy, they rarely miss their target Taken from the past week's episode, Brian is dating Lauren Conrad from "The Hills" and initially recoils from the idea because he thinks she's a bimbo. But over the course of the show, he comes to find out that she's just as much of an intellectual as he is. And it all culminates during this one scene, which pays homage to Wrath of Khan.

State of the TAG (Part 2) - Game Nights, Email Digests
In the immortal words of Warcraft.... Job's done! OK, so that's a bit of a lie. There are actually a few jobs done, and I'm here to give you updates on them. The Game Night Calendar is finally squared away and should be working at optimal efficiency. Plus, I threw in a few fun little updates to make things easier for the folks coordinating game nights. I've also got a great update on the Email Digests for the site. I've got a lot of ground to cover, so I'm posting everything behind the jump. Don't worry, it's not boring. Not too much, anyway. ;)

State of the TAG: Game Calendar & TAG Social updates
Hey gang... just a quick update to let you know that there are some updates/fixes going on right now with regards to the Game Calendar and TAG Social. You can keep using these features while the work's being done, but I wanted to keep everyone up to date as to what's going on. Earlier this morning, we identified an issue with mail messages from TAG Social that hadn't been sending correctly. The issue only affected a small subset of people. The fix for the issue was incredibly minor, and we should now have mail messages being sent out correctly. If you received a few backlog emails from TAG Social this afternoon, we'd like to apologize for the delay in getting those mailed to you. And speaking of TAG Social, we've got an upgrade coming to the Social component within the next 48 hours. There are a couple of new features in the update, including truly private groups (where not only is the group invite-only, but it won't appear in the overall list of groups on the site when doing a search). We're also working on getting groups set up to have their own photo albums, so that those of you setting up discussion groups can upload pictures for everyone to share. We're pretty sure that's going to make some of the Lost discussions a lot more fun, and that other groups will hopefully take advantage of that. And there are a few other cool things included, as well. We're also laying some groundwork for future features that we're hoping to add to Talking About Games in the coming months. We're working to set up Facebook-like notifications so that a little window pops up in the lower right corner whenever you have a new TAG Social message or group discussion. We're also doing some initial work for a possible IM client that'll run on TAG. Oh, and if you like Facebook, we're also trying to see what we can do about integrating directly with them via Facebook Connect. I've also heard the calls from a few of you that the Game Night Calendar has a couple of minor issues that need to be ironed out, and I'm literally working on those in another window as I type this blog post out. With any luck, we'll have those minor hiccups isolated within the next hour or two, and I'll hopefully have an update for you on that soon. Thanks again for all the support, everyone. :)

Weirdly philosophical dreams
First, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for their well wishes that they've sent to me over the past week. The surgery went fine, and all of my wisdom teeth have been removed. Now comes the unfun part: Sitting and waiting for the pain to subside. Blech. I don't know what it is, but for some reason, I've had the most oddly philosophical dreams these past few days. I'm not sure if it's because of the drugs, or the fact that I've been getting caught up on Torchwood and Doctor Who (both of which ask a lot of "What if?" questions). Hit the jump, and find out what runs through my mind when I'm drugged up and asleep. My twitter updates
Finally made it home after the neverending travel saga, only to find a Jury Duty summons waiting for me. This day has officially failed.

I am SO ready to go home and relax. Unfortunately, the baggage claim folks at DFW have other ideas. 35 minutes at the carousel w/o movement

San Fran was nice. Was so glad I got to see the city a bit and meet great people. But I'm glad to be going home. Final Fantasy XIII awaits!

@robmincey the router is ok... I think I have some hiccups with it that I need to work out. DD-WRT was flaky so I had to blow it away
