College Football: Predicting the South Eastern Conference for fall 09
SEC- 2009 East: 1. Florida- (8-0)- this is the best college football team in recent memory. 18 starters returning, 53 letterman from last year's NC team. Fairly easy SEC road schedule, with LSU being only tough game. And they get the week off to prepare for their trip to BR. This team is simply loaded and going to set some records.
2. Georgia- (6-2)- Richt is downgrading at QB and RB but returns a great OL. They have one of the conference's best WR's as well...Defense is very good at LB, not bad elsewhere. Tough opener at Ok State with a new QB, plus Tech in Atlanta leaves the Dawgs unhappy with going 8-4.
3. Tennessee- (3-5) The Lane Kiffen experiment opens in Knoxville. Only 2 starters return on OL, and only half of secondary returns. They will be back in a bowl game, only because the rest of the East is down this year. Playing Vandy at home gets them 3rd place in the East
4. SC- (2-6)- Being unable to change finally becomes Spurrier's downfall. He has been unable to recruit a good QB and refuses to pass protect against today's smaller, faster defenses. They are average at TB and WR, and take a step back at LB and the Secondary. While he has made their program better, I predict this is Spurrier's last season at the helm in SC. He figures out he just isnt getting it done.
5. Vandy- (2-6)- Vandy has tons of starters returning. They were very opportunistic in 2008, but their stats were downright ugly. They simply pulled the same thing Mississippi State did in 2007- win with TO's. They have to figure out how to score. A couple of transfers in at WR should help. 5 starters return on the OL. If this team can score at all, they will upset a couple more teams and return to a bowl- but playing at Tenn and SC puts them at a disadvantage.
6. Kentucky- (0-8 )- tough year in Lexington. Schedule does them no favors, putting all their possible conference wins on the road. Only 12 starters return also. Defense will struggle and hurt this bunch- 10th in SEC ppg on defense 2008- and only 5 starters back in 2009. I think another coaching change takes place here with a retirement, and the SEC gets a much more qualified black HC the 2nd go around. West:
1. Mississippi(sheep.homer alert)- (8-0)- after predicting the Rebs to go 0-8 in 2007, and calling a bowl return in 2008, I've had a pretty good feel for this team. This is the best group of talent they have had since the 60's. Offensively, they are very good. One of the top groups in the SEC at WR, a really good QB, good RB's, and a good OL make this team scary. Defensively, 8 starters return from the best team in the SEC West from November 1st on in 2008...They play a perfect schedule, with 4 candies OOC and getting LSU and Bammer at home. The Mississippi-Bammer winner goes to Atlanta.
2. Bammer- (7-1) Saban's team takes a step back offensively in 2009, they wont be as good at QB, RB, or the OL. But they have one of the nation's best WR's to go with some other good ones. They will produce enough offense to help one of the nation's top defense that has 9 starters returning. They were 2nd in the SEC in scoring D and yards allowed. The schedule is their friend too, but they do have to go to Oxford. They also get the week off to gameplan LSU. Other than Mississippi, VTech could take this bunch down in the opener, but 10 wins will be the worst this team does in 2009.
3. LSU- (5-3) They are just like Georgia in 2008- a top 10 team with too much schedule. 7 starters return on both sides of the ball, plus they enjoyed a top 3 in the nation recruiting class. On offense, they have 3 QB's that could lead this team. Jefferson will lead the offense, but people wonder what they will do with Russell Shepard, the nation's top QB recruit by some. They are loaded at RB, have 11 of their top 12 WR's returning, a good OL that includes the nations best LT. Defensively, they hired a much better DC in Chavis and will be much improved. But still have work left to do. The schedule is the SEC's worst- having to play on the road at Georgia, Bammer, and Mississippi. Florida comes to BR with a week off before to prepare.
4. UPig- (3-5)- Petrino's 2nd bunch is improved, but still has problems. 8 starters return on offense, plus the addition of Ryan Mallet. They are good at RB, will be improved at WR, and experience on the OL. 10 starters return on D to a horrible defense, Sylvester Crooms even scored 31 on this bunch. They have a good DL, but a long way to go at LB and in the Secondary....All SEC home games are winnable, even getting Georgia early may help. Defense will decide how this bunch fares.
5. State- - (3-5)- The Dark Ages ended in Starkville, and State has hired an offensive coach for the 2nd time in a row. This one looks much more promising than the previous one. State returns its QB, top RB's, and some experienced OL. State also has other options at QB that should play some this year. WR is a huge question mark, and they will have to play some true Freshmens here. Look for State to put a RB or two in the slot to get its better players on the field. Defensively, the Dogs are decent on the DL and in the Secondary, and very good at LB. Very little depth, injuries could make this team awful. State is fortunate that they get a struggling Auburn and Vandy early, even if on the road. Auburn is learning their 3rd offense in a year and a half, and Vandy has trouble scoring period. Look for State to make enough big plays in these two games to get over the hump. Mullen goes to a bowl in year 1 and shows the world it doesnt take 7 years to rebuild a program.
6. Auburn- (1-7)- Chizik figures out his ass should have stayed at Iowa State. Crazy boosters with Saban penis envy, no QB, and a rough SEC schedule make it tough for him in year 1 on the Plains. Somehow Auburn managed to be worse in scoring offense than State in SEC games. They are terrible at QB, solid at TB with Tate, average at WR, and solid on the OL. Defensively, they return 8 starters- with the strength of the D being in the back 7. The schedule did them no favors, and they could even lose to LaTech to open the season. Mississippi State is the key to their entire season. Lose that one, and 1-7 is staring them in the face. No way this team wins more than 3 conference games in 2009. Chizik should rent instead of buy. SEC Championship Game- Florida over Mississippi National Champion- Florida Coach of the Year- Houston Nutt SEC West takes over as strong side of the SEC

My Mecha-awesome fantastic dream cast for the Game of Thrones mini-series Part 1!
So... original idea this may not be.
I still felt like throwing my hat in the ring and seeing what people thought about my choice, I know there are a good many people who read the books on the site and I will be curious to hear your comments.
As the Stark's of Winterfell are prone to say, Winter is Coming, so hit the jump would ya?

Country roads... take me home.
This is my music.
I don't care if you like it . I really don't.
I grew up having my mom sing this to me ... and it will forever be engraved on my soul.
