FFTA2: Opinions? 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
What do people think of the new Final Fantasy Tactics game for the DS? I purchased it on the release date and I haven't put it down since. It the new races and job models are a bit lackluster compared to the stock imported from FFTA, but the gameplay is solid and the game seems ENDLESS. I'm 20+ hours into it and I think I'm only about 20-25% through it. Still haven't even gotten all the races yet. So any thoughts?

So far I am LOVING this game, I played the original FFTA for 80+ hours and it looks like I am headed in the same direction this time! I have noticed some subtle changes, one is that now instead of position relative to an enemy greatly altering your accuracy, it now increases the damage if you are on their flank/rear. This poses a problem with magic attacks, because I am not sure if the damage changes due to position and I know the accuracy doesn't so pretty much you can just attack from in front with magic and do the same amt of damage with total accuracy, no need to try and sneak your mage around. It does seem a little bit easy, even on hard mode, maybe it gets a bit more difficult as I am only around ten hours in. I also enjoy the new item creation system... but it does make getting your new abilities very difficult.

Also, I haven't been able to use a phoenix down, how does this work since the characters disappear and I don't get the option to use the phoenix down. (I haven't broken the judges rules either so the no revive thing doesn't apply).

I think it's pretty good...about 10 hours in so far. The character progression seems slower than it was in FFTA, but I do like the tweaked law system.

I was wondering about the Phoenix Down bit too...

Personally, I love it. I really enjoy the new artwork and the entire updates they added. I especially enjoy that the Judges and the Laws don't play such a major role now. I do dislike that you don't get all the classes to start out with and same with the races...but still they were easy enough to manage, although it took me a while to get the Paravir(Yojimbo) class....

EDIT: Oh and to use Pheonix Downs just use them on any square or yourself and then it will give you the option to rez a team member. You don't need to be in the same spot they died anymore.

This game is my crack right now. I am beginning to rack up some serious hours playing it but I just can't quite get my head around WHY.
