Bought me a DS today!! 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
hey guys, I just bought my first DS today and I was wondering what games you guys recommend buying for the system. I got a couple of the Ace Attorney games for myself and Brain Age for the wifey. I'm planning on buying The World Ends With You, Zelda, New Super Mario Bros., Mario 64, Chronotrigger, and Ninja Gaiden DS but I was wondering what you guys recommend for the system and if you know of any maybe throw a couple in there that my lady might like and if they're great/classics maybe even some GBA titles. Thanks in advance guys for your input and recommendations.

What sorts of games are you usually into? That will give us a better idea of what to recommend.

DEFINITELY get New Super Mario Bros. I bought Mario Kart DS, and I love it. But if it's not your cup of tea, you can probably skip it. Zelda is a good one too, if you like Zelda games.

I forgot to throw this out there I pretty much did all genres. I like RPGs, platformers, shooters, puzzlers, action/adventure, anything fun really.

The CoD4 wasn't bad for a shooter on DS. If you like RTS's, then Advanced Wars would be up your alley. Worms is awesome with TONS of replay. The Simpson's was actually really good on it if you like platformers. It didn't have the wonky camera issues that the 360 version had because it's a side (and vertical) scroller. Elite Beat Agents is a must have and the wife will probably like it too. I also imported the Japan version part 2 from PlayAsia which is cool for the J-Pop songs. There's always Pokemon which I actually got into (although I rarely admit it publicly). Puzzle Quest although I dont' recommend the SP as the game seems to "cheat", but it's a lot of fun MP. Lego Indy was pretty good on it too.

Hope that helps.

Knox -

You might want to try out The World Ends With You. It's an action/RPG from the boys at Square Enix (the guys behind Final Fantasy).

There are tons of puzzle games out for the DS. Some of the more notable ones are Planet Puzzle League, Professor Layton and the Curious Village (very good), Picross DS (you can play something like this online on the PC for free, though I'm not sure where), and Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords. For the most part, the popular puzzle games on the DS are almost univerally good.

Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword is actually pretty fun, and it plays pretty well, too.

Other than these games, the only ones I own are New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS, and Brain Age 2, all of which are pretty good.

I hope that helps a little.

Edit: Okay, I'm stupid. The Picross-type game you can play on the PC is called "Armor Picross 2." You can find it on Addicting Games, so you can try it out and see if it tickles your fancy.

If you can't tell by my name, I loved The World Ends With You.

I also highly recommend any of the Castlevania games.

Also, if you don't buy Mario Kart DS, there is something wrong with you*

*statement not verified. There very well not be anything wrong with you.

I would suggest Golden Sun and the old Zelda games for the GBA. Both are personal favorites. I plan on getting them when I get my DS this week. I also plan on getting Mario Party for the DS.
