Square-Enix has shocked the world yesterday by announcing the formerly PS3 exclusive FFXIII is coming to the 360 as well. I already saw alot of Sony fanboys in various forums getting pissed off. Just want to know what are your views on this?

For me, I feel that the era of exclusive 3rd party games is already over. The mentality that should be adopted by gamers is that this particular 3rd party game might not be exclusive to that specific console anymore. If it is exlusive, its a bonus. If not, just take it in good grace. Most importantly is everyone gets to enjoy the good games no matter what consoles they own. Heck, Devil May Cry 4, Burnout Paradise, Bionic Commando and even Street Fighter IV are coming to the PC as well! Who would have thought these games will be released on the PC?

There is no such thing called 3rd party developers loyalty to a console anymore. These game companies are doing a business and as long as their decisions can help them bring in more money, they will do it.

As you said, it comes down to the money. And that money bag of Microsoft is a big one. From here it looks like another large expensive nail that the MS hammer is driving into their lid on the Sony coffin.

well i could not care less, im picking up the PS3 version of the game, and well good for 360 fan, but think about this isn't most of the 360 own shooter fans, no RPG has been very successful on the 360 as of yet, but we will see.

Many ps3 fanboys are still holding on to the chance that FF7 will be remade.

What they fail to realize is that FF7 is not owned by Sony. Square-Enix owns FF7. And based off the stunt Square pulled, They will not make an FF7 remake for PS3 only. There is WAY too much money to be made off something that big.
If it were to be remade, would it be on PS3? sure, but it will too be on the 360.

That's true Blackflash, but many of the RPGs on the 360 were new IPs. Final Fantasy is an established franchise and is one of, if not THE most popular RPG franchises of all time. I don't know how many multiplatform console owners would buy the 360 version over the PS3 version, but I will certainly pick it up for the 360, as that is the only console I own.

All this means for me is now i have to wait for the HEAD TO HEAD review from IGN to see if there are any MAJOR differences.

now that PS3 has trophys its a toss up for me between PS3 and 360, before i would take achievements hands down unless the PS3 version was superior is some dramatic way.....which never happened

Well, many will argue when they both come out that the PS3 version is the lead design version and that coupled with drastically less compression on Blu-ray for full HD will be the better version. Not to mention the Final Fantasy franchise is associated with the Playstation brand, gamers not in the loop that it's also on 360 will gravitate toward PS3.

On the flip-side 360 owners that have the HDD space can just rip the game to their drives so performance may be similar.

They have to work the comparisons a little differently when the time comes.

I think that going multiplat is a good thing for everyone. Sure, some people might be peeved if they already bought a PS3 with FFXIII in mind, but there are more than enough games out now and in the pipeline to justify the purchase.

As for which version I'll get, that's easy...both. I'm that much of a fanboy .

I think that while i don't play final fantasy and will not get it, it's a win for microsoft and the 360.

There are two questions that will decide this for me:

1) How many discs will the Xbox 360 version require?
2) How much install time/space will the PS3 version require?

Right now, as much as I love my 360, I'm still leaning closer to my PS3 on this. At least until more facts come out.

First of all I think that this is a great idea! Not only is it great from the marketing point of view but for the millions of 360 owners that do not own a Playstation3. Me I personally own both of the consoles but will probably buy this for Playstation3. Sure there will be a huge load time in front but it beats a 4 disc game on my 360. It may be just me but I would also feel out of place playing it on xbox.

I wonder if they will have to dumb down the graphics for the 360 and put it on multiple DVDs?

Multiple DVD is a given as for the graphics as past titles have shown the graphics diffrence is never been a real issue.

the game is built, for the ps3 then ported to the 360, so i will stick with the PS3 version anyways not only for that but i seem to have become a trophy whore where as i could not get into achievements, but trophies and the leveling system is something of a attraction. I means I just repurchased Uncharted after i had traded it in after beating it a few times.
