I'm about 13 minutes into the podcast, and I don't think I will make it much furthur. I saw the movie in IMAX, and enjoyed it. It is the best Batman movie since, and maybe including the first one with Michael Keeton, but to call it a 'masterpiece' (Paris) or 'one of the top five movies ever' (Jay), is completely ridiculous. Movies like Seven Samuri, Cool Hand Luke, Dr. Strangelove, even Star Wars and Rocky are masterpieces and truly great movies, the Dark Knight is a very good movie, but not a classic, not even close. I promise in 5 years if you ask 100 people (including Paris and Jay) to name the top 5 movies of all time, The Dark Knight will not be mentioned once. Sorry guys, your knowledge of and taste in movies has been in question for some time (how can you talk about awesome 80s movies and not even mention Brewsters Millions or Trading Places), and statements like these don't help.

That's the beauty of opinions. Everyone's can be different, and none of them are necessarily wrong.

Oh, and don't assume that because we haven't mentioned Brewster's Millions or Trading Places that we don't consider them awesome. I personally love Brewster's, and will stop to watch it anytime I see it on TV.

K,

Got to the point where Jay rephrases to say one of his top five favorites ever. I'm much more comfortable with that comment. I also liked the discussion of the hospital scene. When the Joker is in the nurses dress and talking to Dent, that's probably the best display in the entire movie of what the Joker is all about. The nurse outfit was perfect. Although I liked the ending. The movie seemed like it was going to be one of the typical second movies of a trilogy that is just a set-up for the final film. I was glad they wrapped up the Harvey Dent storyline and didn't just introduce Two-face as the main villian in the next film.

Sorry, I couldn't control myself. Brewsters Millions is a bad mark on Richard Pryor's generally stellar career. Trading Places was a good, but not a great, film. Given the limited number of Remember When episodes that have come out, it is not surprising these films have not been touched on.

In time the opinion of The Dark Knight may go down, but the majority opinion right now is much closer to Parris and Jay's assessment than yours. I think masterpiece is accurate, and that it stands up well to comparisons with Rocky, Cool Hand Luke, and even Casablanca. For my buck it's not as good as Casablanca (what is?), but it is in that league.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

my top films are
Bladerunner
a clockwork orange
The Crow
Battle Royale
Neon Genesis Evangelion:The end of evangelion
Cannibal Holocaust

Point being that as jay said everyone has an oppinion and no one is rite or wrong. The Dark-Night is a masterpeice yes but that doesnt mean its a top film for all.

one thing that i cant figure out is why parris and jay love pixar so much. Ive seen iron giant and hated it then and know, seen wall-e, iit was ok but i wouldnt watch it again. the toy-story films never immpressed me even as a kid so i dont see why 2 grown men love the work puixar has done so much. Im not try to hate on them just currious.

Introduce a little anarchy, you upset the established order, and everything becomes chaos. I am an agent of chaos. And you know the thing about chaos?, It’s fair.
