Pretty simple, the thread title basically explains the thread.
Just Rate the last movie you watched, out of 10 and if you want post why you liked/disliked it. Please try to avoid any spoilers, but if you can't find any way around them don't forget your spoiler tags.
I guess I'll get us started.
Been listening to the Remember When podcast when they brought up the Iron Giant. It was brought to my attention that i had not watched it in a while, so today I did. Its still as great as I remember it being when I first watched it, and i'll admit, i teared up at the end. 9/10.

Well, on a completely different note, the last movie I watched on DVD was Teeth. Messed up. In all the right ways. I'd give it about an 8/10.
The last movie that I watched in a theater was Iron Man. Decent comic book movie. A 7/10.

Last movie I saw was Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles. I'd give it a 7/10. It's a solid continuation of the Robotech storyline, although a lot of it just seemed to be setting up the next movie. The animation was pretty good, although it didn't seem to mesh well with the CG used for the ships and environments.

To be honest, I just watched The Dead Poet's Society for the first time. I rate that 7.
Before that was Iron Man just like everyone else lol. I rate that about a 9. Probably one of my favorite Superhero movies. Which is hard for me since I am such a Spider-man fanboy.
I really can't wait for Dark Knight though!!!

Last movie I watched was Michael Clayton. It was very interesting, but it didnt explain anything at the end. It left me very confused. I'd give it an 8/10.

Aliens was on last nite, four out of five stars. How many follow up movies are as good or better then the first?
Only Aliens, and Wrath of khan come to mind.

The last movie I watched was Sweeney Todd on DVD. Good flick. A 7.5/10, I'd say.
As for follow-ups, Terminator 2 and Dawn of the Dead come to mind. Personally, I much prefer Alien to Aliens, but Aliens is still an unusually strong sequel.

Hellboy, 8/10. Mostly due to Ron Pearlman. And the makeup. Can't wait for the sequel this summer.

Like Zoyd I prefer Alien to Aliens. It comes down to whether action or suspense is more your thing.
But there are several other movies where it is at least debatable as to whether the sequel was better than the original:
Godfather 2
The Empire Strikes Back
The Road Warrior*
Army of Darkness
Silence of the Lambs*
I've seen other sequels listed as better than the original, but those are more debatable.
* Neither The Road Warrior or Silence of the Lambs were originally marketed as sequels since Mad Max and Manhunter were not major box office hits. In the case of Mad Max/Road Warrior, the sequel drew attention to the original (enough that "Mad Max" was used to market Beyond Thunderdome). In the case of Manhunter/Silence, Manhunter was largely ignored and eventually remade using the book's title - Red Dragon.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

He wasn't there again today.
I think he's from the CIA."

"The Forbidden Kingdom" via Bittorent.
8/10 Good fighting scenes, bad acting and bad story. Cheesy as all hell. Since it's still in theaters, I would not recommend paying to see it.

Hot Fuzz 9/10
Another hilarious comedy from Simon Pegg. He's great, Timothy Dalton wasn't that bad either.

Saw a double feature this weekend:
Iron Man - 8.5/10. This is definitely one of the best superhero films I've seen. Not sure that I'm ready to put it above X-Men 2 though. The opening scene with NightCrawler in the Oval Office was worth the price of admission.
Drillbit Taylor. 7.5/10 If you are a fan of Judd Apatow films, then this is a must see. For those 30-somethings like me, there is a great shout out to the film My Bodyguard from the early 80s. The kids in this show just kill me.

last night i watch "solarus". thought it could of been pretty good, its got george clooney and the guy who plays daniel faraday in lost. its not. though its not often you get to see the worst movie ever made. its make you appriciate all rocky 5 as a glorious work of art. nothing happens... nothing. i even asked a buddy today what happened. he didn't know either. 1/10, beacuse no movie is a zero or a ten.

Hmm... I actually quite like the Soderbergh version of Solaris. It's not as brilliant as the Andrei Tarkovsky original (which is still one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time, right up there with 2001: A Space Odyssey and Blade Runner), but it's an impressive remake nevertheless. It's a very poetic and philosophical film, though... not something for action fans.
Lately I've been watching a lot of Mario Bava films. Classic Italian horror flicks like Kill, Baby... Kill! and Lisa and the Devil. They may not actually be all that scary by today's standards but by any standards they are still gorgeous films. The last Bava flick I watched was Baron Blood. It's like a precursor to all the Freddy and Jason style slasher films, only less teen-centric. (In fact, one of Bava's more famous films, Bay of Blood (aka Twitch of the Death Nerve), was the direct inspiration for the original Friday the 13th... Friday even repeated several of the kills). Anyway, I'd give Baron Blood an 7/10 when compared with Bava's other films and a 8.5/10 when compared with other 70's horror films. If you are a fan of horror, you should check out Bava.
