Sorry about the lack of proper sleep, Nev. That always makes for a long day.

Speaking of long days, I have an exam in an hour. Gotta go. Is there an FNF tonight? If there is, I might have to get in on that.

Their might be a Shadowrun game but frankly I don't feel like playing Shadowrun. I might be down for some Catan/Uno play. Or maybe even Halo3 or Rockband?

Re:The Party Thread 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hey everyone...TGIF for sure, work's been hectic. I've been almost strictly playing FFIV DS. It's pretty good, though much harder than I remember it being. Having voice acting in it is certainly weird, but at least it's tolerable.

So how small of a car are you looking for, Nev? I used to have a Toyota Yaris (until it got totalled, but that's a story for another day) and I currently have an '07 Ford Focus. I really liked the Yaris, and would wholeheartedly recommend it...I consistently got around 30-35 MPG with it, and I think it's pretty well designed (suprisingly roomy on the interior).

The Focus I have now is pretty good; it's also roomy, handles very well, and gets about 27-30 MPG (mixed driving). I'm less enamored with the design, but it's servicable. The '08 version got an exterior redesign that I think looks much better, so I'd give that a recommendation too.

Anywho, I hope you all have a good day .

Popping in to say Hey....."Hey!!"

The system conversion here at work is really sucking right now. The conversion itself is going along as expected. The users are the ones that are a major pain in my ass. If a setting needs to be re-set or a resolution got defaulted back to normal and just needs to be changed back it is suddenly all my fault (I got named Point of Contact...not fun) and it is a construed as a personal attack against them. I'll be happy to be done today and go home.

Anyways, on a lighter note, our son is scheduled to be delivered next Friday morning at 10:00 am EST....WhooHoo!!!!!!!!!!! .....that's unless he changes his mind and wants to pop out earlier. Yes, I'm a guy because I used "pop out"

Nevis, we got Brooke a Toyota Matrix last year and she absolutely LOVES it. She's averaging around 30 MPG so it is pretty cost effective and she loves the layout and everything.....just my 2 cents.

Ok, back to the aggrevated hordes....hoping to catch up with you all on FNF tonight.

Hey everyone! Hope you all make it through the grind unscathed. At least the weekend is coming up for you to rest (while you can Bman).

I'd also like to reiterate my suckiness at game playing. I played CivRev last night and got trashed by Gandhi on easy - EASY!! I'm ashamed to call myself a gamer.

I hear ya Fester, we should start a club for people who should give up gaming, but don't because we enjoy sucking... at games that is.

I been playing Tomb Raider: Anniversary. Back in 1996 I could do this blind folded with minimum amount of effort. I just spent 2 hours the other night in ONE room...missing jumps, getting ate by crocks and drowning.

Shooting games are okay if the person I am shooting is standing still and I am not moving at the time I shot (like that ever happens). I like the old days of Outlaw on the Atari 2600. One on One with only 1 shot fired at a time..good stuff

And yes I can't even touch King (Medium) on Civ. Rev. Might be able to last 10 minutes if I get a good spot away from Gandhi.

Don't be so hard on yourself, Fester. You managed to strategize yourself into the paper bag! That's an accomplishment...right?

This picture I recently saw comes to mind...

what's up bitches!!

just got back from a week in the mountains, camping, fishing, swimming, and such...overall it was a phenomenal trip...although now comes the inevitable weekend of laundry and cleanup....then we're home for a week, then back on the road to Seattle for about 10 days....

as I read about 6 pages to catch up from last week, sounds like everybody is doing pretty well....

Try disconnecting and reconnecting all the cables and see if the problem goes away or gets worse. If it does either, it's likely a cable. If it stays the same, try playing with the switch on the KVM. If it gets better or worse, it's probably the KVM.

If the above does nothing, connect one system directly to the monitor using the cable that went from this system to the KVM. If the problem is still there it is not the KVM or the cable from the KVM to the monitor. (jump to Branch A if this is true) If the problem goes away, try connecting the same system directly to the monitor using the cable that went from the monitor to the KVM. If the problem still isn't there, it is your KVM. If it comes back, it is the cable from the KVM to the monitor.

Branch A: Try connecting the other system directly to the monitor using the cable that connected this system to the KVM. If the problem is still there, the issue is almost certainly your monitor. Try to borrow another monitor to verify. If the problem is not there it is most likely the video card or cable on the first system. You can figure out which by trying the first system with one of the other cables.

One caveat: it still could be a bad cable, and you might "fix" the problem by having stretched the cable out. So if the problem seems to be something other than the cables, try the above cycle a couple of times before you buy anything. If the results are inconsistent, it's probably a bad cable.

Any luck fixing this yet, Zoyd? If not, it may be time for Branch B:

Branch B will not be necessary. As I was trying to figure it out, I remembered the at one point that, in an effort to bring order to the mess of cables that was cluttering up behind my computer, I had twisty-tied a bunch of cables together. This apparently is not a good thing to do. As soon as I released all the cables, the signal cleared up. They must have been interfering with each other. So, problem solved and I didn't have to tear apart my room or purchase a new gizmo. I'm happy.

Anyone else going to see the new X-Files flick? I know it's getting generally unfavourable reviews, but it's Mulder and Scully. I'll see it.

I've definitely added it to my "list of movies I'd like to see, one of these days, if I should happen to have the opportunity to get to a theater without 4-children in tow."

Zoyd: I hear that Ebert and Roeper are disbanding "At the Movies." Sounds like your opportunity to pounce.

That would do it. In engineering lingo this is "crosstalk." It's one of the banes of high speed circuit design, both at the chip and board level. It is a little less common with cables, because they are generally well shielded, but it does happen. (Anyone crying yet? Yawning? - i.e. bored to tears or put to sleep? Engineers are perfecting our plan to take over the world. Create a language so obtuse that we can put everyone into a catatonic like state. I'm just wondering if it is working. )

I'm going to try to make the 4:00 showing for "I Want to Believe." I've not heard good things about it, either, but it is indeed Mulder and Scully.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
