Great book! I too would recommend this.
Short stories seem to be dying, which is a shame. I would recommend The Oxford Book of American Short Stories or a Flannery O'Connor collection.
I've got a couple O'Connor collections, Southern Gothic-esque lit is a particular favorite of mine.
Evenin all... Hope everyone has gotten over all this "fever". lol
Off to watch some "Hot Fuzz".. I've heard it is a pretty decent flick.

Morning All! It's Friday!!
I'm looking forward to Shadowrun tonight! Should be a lot of fun...me running around getting shot and having to be resurrected....repeatedly. I have to admit, I'm a little nervous about he plague-like fever that will be running rampant thru out the matches

hooray for Fridays!
I'm out early today, so ideally the group will wind down earlier, though I doubt it.
Then, there's always the possibility that plans don't come together.
What this means is that I may or may not be around for shadowrun, but if I'm on, feel free to shoot me an invite.

EDIT: But, if I'm playing Rock Band, I probably have people over

TGIF, all.
Today is 'moving day' for my office. We are all boxed up and ready for the movers to come. We're just going about 5 minutes down the road, to a nice new larger building, but moving a whole office is a big production. I'm so glad I'm not the office manager. The plan is to be up and running on Monday, and seeing clients again on Tuesday.
INVITATION: As discussion on this thread has turned to television from time to time, I know that many of us share similar taste in television shows. One series I've always meant to watch, but never got around to, is Babylon5. I'm active on the tivocommunity.com forum, and a bunch of us there are going to start watching and discussing the series from the beginning, with a thread devoted to each episode. We'll be starting in the next day or so. No final decision yet on how many episodes we'll be watching per week, but it'll probably be one or two. If you've never seen the show, or want to rewatch it, come join us! Think of it as a book club for geeks, with B5 as the book. No tivo necessary: many episodes are available for free on-line (at Hulu), and the DVD's can be found for cheap, too. Here's a link to the preliminary discussion thread.

Brillig - good luck on the move. We're not moving here in our office but in July, they are changing our network system and replacing the carpet. Should be a fun-filled month
I may join your topic. Babylon5 always intrigued me with the whole planned 5 year series so that they knew how long they had to tell their story instead of rambling on trying to stretch a series out too long. It's one of the things that has excited me more about Lost is that they've done the same thing now. Can one join the TiVo forum if they don't have a TiVo? We upgraded our DirectTV to HD so I lost my TiVo and have to use their DVR....somthing that I was not happy about .

There are plenty of people that don't have tivos but that are active on the forum.

My wife and I are fans of Babylon 5 (we own all the DVDs of the shows and the made for TV movies, except for the "Legend of the Rangers". The short lived spinoff, "Crusade" was pretty decent but never got a fair chance.
Don't even get me started on "Firefly"!

Morning.
Good luck with the Babylon 5, guys. You're gonna need it. Sure, it may have been planned out but I don't really like the show.
Looking forward to Shadowrun!

I know I shouldn't be too excited about this, but I just received an email from Goozex letting me know Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is on its way! WOO-HOO! I also saw Kane and Lynch for the PS3 at Target for $19.99 and I'm seriously considering adding that game to my paltry PS3 collection.

Happy Friday! I'm greatly looking forward to Shadowrun tonight...since I'm already the Official TAG COD4 Target Practice Dummy, perhaps now I can become the Official TAG Shadowrun Target Practice Dummy.
Tin, how did you like Hot Fuzz? I loooove that movie, and in a lot of ways thought it was better than Shaun of the Dead. Timothy Dalton's role was just hysterical .

Hot Fuzz is some good eats, yup. I'm not sure I like it better than Shaun of the Dead but I think it's still absolutely hilarious.
Well, I gotta go. See you all either later on this afternoon or at the Shadowrun game tonight.

Thought it was hilarious. I thought that was Timothy Dalton. But the plot was a tad bit predictable.
