this thread is to help all of the people out there trying to decide which to buy

im not going to even include the wii because if you want a motion controller go for the xbox, one will be coming out soon, so don't panic!

im personaly going for the xbox because of the greater amount of people on the xbox live community and because i've got one. also i think there is a wider variaty of games for the xbox and ps3 is way too expensive compared to the xbox because they've just announced even more price cuts

I got my Wii to play Zelda, Mario & Metroid, not for the motion controller. Only motion controller I really care for is the drums in Rock Band (Which can be found on Wii,Xbox or PS3). Also ended up buying other Wii games and picked up some old timeless classics on the Virtual Console. The Wii is a lot more than just motion control.

The PS3 will see games like Final Fantasy, MGS, Tekken, God of War & Grand Turismo. Games you will not see on other consoles. Also with Little Big Planet, Killzone, & Afrika coming it really is picking up steam. Now only if the pice will be competitive, which I believe it is starting to look like it is.

The things Xbox has going for it is Live #1, then there is the back log of triple A titles (some of which are on the PS3 or coming soon.) Also The price of the Xbox is in everyone's range, but this leaves too many SKU's on the market really.

Anyway I really don't think anyone could go wrong buying any of the systems. I don't get this whole "console war", what does the winner receive? I think the owners of the consoles are the real winners and looks like all gamers will win this fall.

That tanz is because adam here is a 360 fanboy lol and adam 9535? Anyway for the 360 i think live is awesome and it would take a long time for any company who is playing catch up to do so.

As for th prices me and adam (hakim) are both in the uk so the ps3 is around $700-800 for the 40gb version which is te only version avaiable to us while the 360 starts at $300.

Now achievements i am admittedly an achievment JUNKIE not whore and adam has just crossed that line lol while the ps3 today released trophys i don't think these are on te same par as achievements but alot is yet to be determind although i will give my full opinion on the ps3 this fall when i get one lol (providing this thread is still active)

Maybe a few months ago I would have been so far on the 360's side with this question, then I purchased a new tv. This encouraged me to start a HDDVD collection and along with that I thought I need blueray. My introduction to the PS3 came then...

My impressions of the PS3 are much better than I expected, the dashboard feels much cleaner and softer experience. Gaming wise Uncharted and MGS4 I am very impressed with. Now trophies sound very interesting to me. Introduce cross gaming chat then the PS3 may well leave the 360 in the dust for me.

This is coming from a fan of Xbox/360 since 2001.

While i agree with what your saying don't you think that bar trophys the ps3 should have had alot of the things that there now adding already apart of the console on release? Obviously trophys are for a better phrase a knock-off of achievements?

I have both, and I would choose the 360 hands down.

So far the PS3 has really not been much more than a blu-ray player for me. The online experience on the PS3 is a joke. I really like Drakes Fortune, but there really aren't any games on it that would make me want to buy the system. I think this may change when Little Big Planet comes out

On the 360 side, it is the system I always turn on first, I keep tabs on my friends, am able to easily send invites for games, they have a much wider selection of demos, and arcade games, plus for the multisytem titles, the major factors that make me buy the xbox version everytime are xbox live online play and the controller, I really don't like the PS3 controller, and think the 360 controller is the most comfortable and has the best feel.

I agree it is like a msn type feature i mean i find people keeping tabs on me too lol i even had someone come to me today and asked why i have stopped going on live because i have been offline for 2 days lol.

If a person was buying a console tomorrow, I would tell them to get a 360. It currently has the best of everything - best games (and more of them) and best online.

Maybe the PS3 will be better someday . . . but maybe it won't. A lot of the PS3 hype has been built on "It's going to be good someday," and a lot of those promises have been broken. I think it's better to bet on something that is already good (X360) than something that might be better in the future (PS3).

Don't buy a Wii until you own one of the other two consoles. A Wii is a good second console, but shouldn't be the primary of any serious gamer.

ok i admit that i am a xbox 360 fanboy, but if the ps3 was better than the xbox i'd probably be a ps3 fanboy, don't that tell you something about the console?

This is a tough call. I normally would say 360 hands down, but unfortunately my machine is headed back to Texas to get repaired...again! Since my 360 is out of commission, it's giving me some time to really use the ps3. The implementation of the trophy system compounded with the release of some excellent games (MGS4 of course, Echochrome, among others) is making this a closer race than I would have thought just 3 months ago.

Let's take a look at the pros and cons of each console...

XBOX 360
Pros: Live
More titles to chose from

Cons:
RRoD...it might not seem like a huge deal, but once you are without your console you will feel it.
HD DVD is a failure so the only HD movies you can watch are "rented" off of live.

PS3
Pros: Stunning graphics. Look and Hevenly Sword and MSG4 and tell me different.
Sony lets you do more with their console in terms of mods and you won't get banned for it.
To play online...Free
Blu-Ray

Cons: Online play is horrible. Even though its free, you get what you play for.
It is lacking in titles
It seems like Sony is playing catch up when it is comes to features.

Feel free to add to the list if you like. It all depends on what you want out of your gaming machine really.

I get everything I need out of both systems.If I want to play against other people I turn on my X-box, if I just want to chill to some single player games with outstanding graphics I turn on my Ps3.If everyone could get both the world would be a much better place and the Debate over which one is better would be over!It just depends on what you want out of your gaming system.

-more freinds use it (at least for me)
-better exclusives (GOW, Halo, & more)
- CHeaper
- etc

Also at least for me blu- ray isn't that big of a deal for me i could care less about how good a movie looks

I'd have to say that the 360 gets my vote. After playing on my younger brother's PS3, although the graphics were better than average. The gameplay on the PS3 doesn't do it for me. I'd rather play on my 360 with all my mates on a game of COD4 than sit playing GTA4 on my own with a load of people I don't know. The 360 community is far better in my opinion.

Lazy

I bought a 360 March of 06 and I've loved it since I got it. I wanted to get a PS3 but when they announced the price and so far only a couple of games I wanted to play, I just couldn't justify the money.

So far I want to play on PS3:

Ratchet and Clank
MGS4
Little Big Planet

And that's it. I can't throw down $500 to play that. Not to mention, I want my PS3 to play PS2 games because I don't have room for another console so tracking down a system with PS2 compat could be a challenge. I also don't have a HD TV so any HD stuff is null and void in my book.

I'd have to go with the 360.

-Control (way better for FPS titles)
-Netflix

PS3 I'm not missing much.

I own all three systems and for me it's gotta be 360. I get alot more time and fun out of the system. It has the better titles and the Live experience is seamless and excellent, I'll gladly pay the $50 a year to have that experience. I also digg the new look, party system and I'm a Netflix subscriber so I'm pumped about that news. There are games that I enjoy playing on my PS3 and online is improving but still has a ways to go and I'm a big movie buff so I love watching Bluerays but it's got to be more than my $700 MGS4, a few other titles, and Blueray player. Bring me the titles and improve online play and try to blur the line a little.
