Sony needs to prove the Cell processor and GPU are superior to the competition by truly unlocking its power--if that power really exists. A handful of AAA exclusives aren't going to cut it. Sony needs to get that power in the hands of 3rd party developers. For example, if I'm looking at RE5 for 360 and PS3, I should be able to see a substantial difference between the two versions. At e3, there was no difference. If the PS3 is so powerful, why is Sony content with versions equal to that of the 360?
I agree completely but... There are a lot more 360 owners than PS3 owners at this point, sales figures also show that 360 gamers buy more games more often. From a a strictly business\financial perspective would you put the extra time\money into developing a version that statisticly won't sell as well? Especially considering that microsoft's system is such that you are practically creating the 360 and pc versions simultaneously.
I understand your point, but if Sony wants to grow their consumer base, their engineers and programmers are going to have to show developers how to do an Uncharted or MGS quality game, and package those techniques within the development kits. They'll need to address the programming complexity that developers have been complaining about since the system's launch.
Then again, my opinion is all based on the Cell and the GPU being as powerful as Sony has been claiming. If it isn't, then the system is a cool BluRay player with a handful of impressive games.
