a lot of people are not happy with this game for whatever reason controls graphics etc. hey every game is not for everyone that's why there's diversity. but the camera and controls are not bad they're different. and once you adjust yourself to the nuances cause there is a learning curve i think they both work fantastic.
there are multiple camera angles all you need to do is hit up on the d-pad. i believe there are 5 or 6 different camera options and then there's also the re-center on the left bumper. i've played through the demo multiple times trying out various classes and i found switching the camera to the isometric view during the arena style battles worked great and then the game did turn into diablo. sure there are a couple of points where you may need to walk at the screen but that's also in games like devil may cry and ninja gaiden.
controls honestly remind me a lot of assassin's creed with a little more depth. not for how they are mapped but for the simplicity in flow with the ability to be complex if you want. the controls are unique and different for the style of game that it is. granted they are very twin stick shooter but there is some depth in combo's and i wouldn't doubt if this advances further once you pick the human or cybernetic path. the controls are definitly not explained well i agree on that but do we really need a tutorial walking us through every single button press.
graphics aren't mind blowing no but they're good enough and as i posted in the other too human post we sure see nintendo selling it's ass off and my 2600 looks better then that.
is this game for everyone absolutely not. and scoba don't worry there are going to be plenty of people playing this online. me and a few of my friends already fighting over who's playing with who on what clases and what runs. if you need a partner let me know.
all in all i think the demo did exactly what denis and silicon knights wanted to accomplish it gave you a taste of what the game does and how it plays. ya know like a demo is supposed to.

I quite enjoyed the demo...the controls felt fairly intuitive to me and I loved the look of it.
Personally I cannot wait to get my hands on the full version of this...can't wait to play it co-op.

I agree with you, but I'm still so on the fence with this one.Like my friend said, I might have liked this alot in 2003 or 2001.It is a cool concept though, but I'm not a fan of the demo, although I've only played it one time. But, they do say that you usually like it better the second time, so try it again?

Per many comments, including Lono on the latest PGR, if you have only played it once, play it again. The controls are different from the standard FPS or even third person actions game (Gears). By the end of my first play through I thought I was getting the hang of it. This meant my second play through I was able to focus more on all the skills and equipment.
I have not yet done any of the tricks to unlock the other classes; I just used the Champion. But on the second play through the greatness of this game started to shine. I still think too many people will not give it a chance. The learning difficulty is higher than on many other games. But if you stick with it, I think you will find it to be one of the great gaming experiences of the year.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

You know after listening to PGR today, I have to correct my statements on this demo. If you do the Archetype glitch that Lono referred to on the show, play as the Berserker. It's way fun. Its not that the game will suck, the demo was just bad. I'm really enjoying this game demo now that I can play as the other classes.

I belive that the demo was finally what I needed to prove to me that this game is going to be worth the money. Many have talked about the extremely long development cycle being a crutch, but the way that I see it if the end product delivers I don't care how long it took to make the game.
There are a lot of different business models for creating and selling games and if this is what works for silicon knights then so be it. We all know what happens to the ultra rushed movie-tie-in games that SUCK! Bethesda on the other hand takes their time with their games and they really are a labor of love for those guys. Is ten years too long?... only time will tell
Combat is unique and requires a bit of time to get used to. All I can imagine is that the game will improve upon what we've seen in the demo, and from where I stand that can only be a good thing.

Halo 1 didn't even have multiplayer three weeks before it shipped. I would imagine they'd be pulling all-nighters if there were any major issues. I guess my point is that if they've waited ten years to develop the game... they've got to have dealt with any major issues. It's not like they been rushed

The statement that 'its been in dev for 10 years' is not fully accurate. The started out on PS then went to GameCube and then to Xbox then its now on the 360. And even during its dev time on the 360 they had to change the ending because the first one they were using did not work as they thought it should (actually they are currently under litigation against the engine company because of this). During each time there was downtime and code redo's to change it from one platform/endine to another.
So yes, it has been under works for 10 years off and on, but to say this game should be perfect or better because its had 10 years of development is not really accurate.

Have only played through the demo once, but it caught my interest enough that I'll try renting this when it comes out. The controls didn't seem super-intuitive to me, but to be fair I don't play too much in the way of 3rd person or RPG's, so that was probably a factor. Once I figured out how to custom out equipment, that was pretty fun. I'm also hoping that the multiplayer lets you do same-console, and not just online.
The thing that actually grabbed me most were the hints of story - some sort of VR in a Norse-esque world is definitely different. I'm hoping that the story lives up to what its potential looks to be, as for me that can really help make or break a game.

I revise my initial opinion. I actually do like this game after playing the demo for about an hour. I'm not saying this is a must buy for me but I think I will rent this or just play the demo some more. Nothing pops out at me that will make me want to buy it right of way, I will probably wait 6 months when it goes down in price.

Honestly, the demo didn't really grab me at all, though I haven't given it a second play through yet. I'll at least get it through Gamefly.

I like the demo, i didn't love it but i enjoyed it enough to pre order it. I figure after I'm done with the game I'll unload it on ebay and I'll only loose like 10 bucks or so.

I have run through the demo about 8 - 10 times (I have lost count by now) and honestly at this point my only fear about the game is that I will play through the demo so much that I won't want to play the real game!
