Was surprised Phoenix was able to keep his cool. If I owned a PS3 I would have went ballistic. I am glad I am a PS2 owner, heck 140 titles this year! Persona 4 & Yakuza 2 will probably be the final 2 games I would get...who knows there may still be support for it next year.

I must be missing the boat on the movie downloads on a game system. I just don't get why one of the gaming system's best features are movie downloads. Thought people were crying about HD space now. Why DL a movie in SD when you can buy it on Blu-ray the leading HD format? To watch it on a 3x5 screen (PSP)... okay, it might be good for those that travel a lot.



I would sum up the 3 press conference:

Microsoft: Makes me totally satisfied to be a gamer on the 360, have more than enough games to chose from this year. The added features for those that want them is a plus (Dashboard & Movies).

Nintendo: What I have come to expect from them. They will release a good game when it is ready and I'll buy it, no need to showcase it.

Sony: It is a good thing they have a movie studio because they have some blockbuster movies coming out on the best Blu-ray system this year! (where the .... are the games!)

Lol I was suprised that I was able too.......I was very frustrated and I think you can tell from the show

Good show guys. I enjoyed the conversation on NetFlix. I'm not a subscriber to NetFlix, so the talk was insightful. I hope they offer streaming movies in HD. TO answer the question, I always select (if movie is 90's or later) the HD download option. Once you watch HD, SD looks grainy.

Well I on the other hand didn't keep my cool as I sold my PS3 today. I just felt like there wasn't anything that appealed to me even after 8 months of owning the console. This E3 really dissapointed me as I felt like I'll still be waiting for something that appeals to me on Sony's end. Well, I do really like my PSP for casual gaming on the go. The good news is now I have enough to buy more for my continued (and enjoyable) Xbox 360 experience. So once again, I'd just like to say:

To answer the question of the week, I would have to say MICROSOFT hands down.

MICROSOFT: they hit all the right notes as far as I am concerned. I'm happy I have my 360 and my gold XBL account. I Don't really care for the Avatars, but I'm excited for the dashboard update!!!! Gears2 "I have a Rendez-Vous with Death" trailer like JVB said made me want to go outside and start breaking something!!! (can't wait for it , doing my pre-order right now) Ham Sandwich to Microsoft

NINTENDO: we get it they're printing their own money as Parris says all the time. I've contributed to it, but now that you've got the casual market scrambling to get your "Wiinerschnitzel" box, what do you think about giving the hardcore gamers something? Regarding that "Wii-Music" game I need more to turn on the Wii (that thing is just sitting there collecting dust). With all the cash they're making I can't honestly give them a shattered dream pie, but I"m not given Nintendo a ham sandwich either

SONY: to be honest after seeing what they presented I was shocked and when they started talking about the PS2 I was like WTF???? (I still use my PS2, but I don't think I want to get any new releases for it. I might pick up an old copy of a "greatest hits" game I missed back in the day, but that's about it!!!) No word on HOME after Microsoft shows off what they're about to do with the update for XBL. God of War 3 (even though I'm a fan of the series, I'm with Phoenix on this one. That pre-rendered cut scene with no game play was like throwing us a bone w/ no meat on it) PSP-let's not even go there. Why in the name of the Pixel Gods would I be interested in downloading a High Def movie on a PS3 and watch it on a small 4.3in LCD screen????? Before all this I was seriously considering getting a PS3, but now I guess all that money I saved up will go into the savings account.

for me personally i liked the microsoft press conference overall they had more announcements and i liked how they started right into the live demos of some of their top games. Microsoft got me excited for being a 360 owner this year.

I will still be buying sonys top games this year like resistance 2. but for the games at their conference they showed 3 titles that for me personally that i am truely excited for. also when they showed the video of the dev's talking about the ps3 and its superiority i thought it was a COMPLETE waste of time and i think it shows sonys arrogance. That ontop of having no information on home it was just a downer.

Nintendo did nothing to convince me to pick up a wii.

I thought Nintendo's press conference was alright.They people they had on stage were just Boring and Uptight people, not Gamers.I like what they said about the Ds, and I agree with you guys on the Show there are wazy to many music games out there now and Nintendo just wants its piece of the Pie.

Microsoft did have the better showing and know I'm gonna have to dust off my 360 and start playing it more.I was trying to give more love to my PS3....Later guys

Great discussion. One point of clarification, the PS3 is no longer the cheapest Blu-Ray player on the market. While still having upgrade capability that most players do not, I cannot imagine a someone in a Best Buy or equivalent trying to explain to someone why they should spend more on a PS3. The response would be something along the lines of "Are you telling me the format isn't stable?" at which point they lose a sale. And in Wal-Mart the discussion is never had. So, as a selling point for the mass market, Blu-Ray has become a non-factor.

If the games available are more or less equal, then Blu-Ray could be a selling point for someone looking for a gaming system. However, Microsoft still owns the on-line space, so it would be a trade-off between a Blu-Ray player or on-line gaming service. But the big "if" is equal quality games. At this point, Microsoft has a much better offering and E3 did not show me that Sony will close the gap during this holiday release.

PS - Microsoft has gotten a lot of bad press for saying they will beat the PS3 (admittedly a premature judgment). Yet I have heard very little criticism of Sony saying this was the Year of the PS3. I don't see any hope of them outselling the Wii, and at this point doubt they'll outsell the 360 this year. So why did they seem to get a pass on the comment?

I don't see what the big problem is about microsoft's statement or Ps3's statement. it's nothing more than a little friendly competition.

Look, the point is that both 360 and ps3 know that they will not outsell nintendo and they are not trying too.

the nintendo wii is like a board game. you bring it out when it's family/friends night.. that's it.

Look at it this way, MS showed a lot of milti platform games, and Sony focused more on the first party because MS basically marketing those other games for them in my opinion, Nintendo hates us, and for the Final Fantasy stuff not matter how Square puts it the 360 version will not be on part, and I say this because of what I say done on MGS4 so i will get the PS3 version. Besides that I see my self buying more PS3 games for the next 8 months that i will 360 games just after all i saw this past week, some of the games that i want are lead on the PS3 and i want my games in their pure form not ported poorly. I think think Tokyo games show will get people talking differently in September.

and hopefully sony has some BIG announcement to put in there cause all of the Sony "FANBOYS" will never see the big picture Microsoft is killing them for a reason. Sony never backs up with what they say and Microsoft comes thru on some of what they say. Sony needs to get fans talking and they arent doing it.

Don't give me a some watered down trailer for God Of War 3 cause WE ALL SAW IT COMING SONY NO SUPRISE THERE!!!!
