Did you actually listen to the podcasts? He had a pretty valid point if you watched the Microsoft press conference... It was boring as hell. He never really had anything bad to say about the games, hell he even said the announcements were awesome.. just the presentation was what bored him. They are not the same without Peter Moore, I will agree 100% with him.
No they aren't the same without peter moore, but the sony conference was just as boring IMO. Sony isn't the same without phil harrison. And to be honest with you, nintendo pulled back on reggie and let his underling go out and talk about her broken wrist was just as poor of a public speaker.
Since he is a MVP, maybe he knew the majority of the stuff going into the show. If that is the case that would make it even more boring then it already was.
I think I said this on the podcast but the reality is MS has done way more for me and the site than Sony ever has. I am a MS MVP and MS given me opportunities and access to things that any gamer in their right mind would kill for BUT with all that said I cannot let that cloud my judgment. I appreciate everything I've gotten out of gaming the past couple of years but I will also continue to call it like I see it when it comes to games and not let the perks influence me one way or the other.
Evidence of that was a few MS employees teasing me at E3 by calling me a Sony fanboy. I consider that a compliment.

The majority of reports I've read or listened to have given the nod to Microsoft as having done the best at E3 (they may have needed it the most, too). But the consensus is not universal; it's not really even overwhelming. Judging this is more subjective than judging an Olympic event, and while he may be Parris, I don't think he's a French judge in this situation.
People have different opinions. I personally could not care less about Little Big Planet. Therefore, anything Sony did around this title was not going to interest me at all. Others have a great deal of interest in the title and therefore are prone to think Sony did a great job of displaying the title in an innovative manner. I have an iPod and if I wanted to watch a TV show or movie while traveling, I would use my iPod. However, if you have a PSP and PS3, I can see how the video download service might appeal to you. To me, it seemed like Sony trying to play catch-up (with both MS and Apple).
Each person is going to see this through their own filter. That's not bad, and it doesn't mean that those of us who think MS won will not be vindicated by the sales figures at the end of the year. (of course, it doesn't mean we will, either; that remains to be seen). But it does mean that someone is not necessarily a fanboy just because they disagree.
Anyway, Parris doesn't need me to defend him (he's got lefty for that). I'm as guilty as anyone for quick judgments when people disagree, so this isn't to pass judgment but to be a reminder, for me as much as anyone.
i respect the fact that you are giving your honest thoughts about the show and i dont think we would expect anything less from parris. but everyone has their own thoughts on the show.
Re:Paris must be getting paid by Sony 2 Weeks, 6 Days ago
Just got around to listening to the E3 pod casts.
Wow, I think it's a little ridiculous to say Paris is getting paid by Sony. The only thing more ridiculous than the assumption that Paris is getting paid by Sony is Paris' actual opinion that Sony and Nintendo's conferences were better than MS.
It's funny listening to his opinion on the conferences after reading and listening to all the other reviews and message boards on the net. Somebody above said something like "it's his opinion and can't be wrong". Sorry but you and Paris are wrong.
Nintendo's conference was generally thought of as the most embarrassing conference since the Sony 2006 E3 disaster. Just type in 2008 E3 Nintendo conference into Youtube if you don't beleive me. Sony's conf. was a judged a little less harshly but still considered an utter disappointment. Just read any game message boards or even any pro-Sony message boards immediately following Sony's conference.
Don't get me wrong though, MS conference was merely considered decent. But next to Sony and Nintendo's near abominations MS was declared winner by default. The fact that Paris' opinion of the conferences goes against the consensus of well, the entire gaming world, is more likely attributed to Paris' desire for Sony's conference to be better than MS more than Sony actually paying him off.
You, me, everybody, we're all fanboys to an extent whether we like it or not. Some just hide it better than others and some, occasionally let it slip out from time to time. That doesn't mean anyone has been paid or anything. It only means Paris is a fanboy just like everyone else. The fact that his opinion was so incredibly skewed, even compared to some of the most ardent Sony fanboys who thought the conference was embarrassing is, well, I leave you to your own opinion on that one.
PS. Absolutely love his movie reviews, no bullshit, they are really fun and entertaining to listen to.

Everyone knows the real reason Uncle Gamer is on a bit of a hiatus at the moment is so Jay can get the license to incorporate the song "Rhinestone Cowboy" for when Parris is introduced on the show. He sure loves that vest.

How can an opinion be wrong?
I agree, Parris did say that those were his opinions, and did not state them as facts.
Now, when I want your opinion...I'll give it to you!
I agree. Opinions can't be wrong. They are opinions, not facts. They can be disargeed with, not wrong. The defition of opinion is...a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty.
As for the E3 debate...each person judges the press conferences by different standards. Some look at just games, others look at the platform from the whole entertainment aspect, others at how entertaining the press conference was as a whole. I think with the press conferences, you really need to watch it yourself and make up your own mind. Why do you think Jay and Parris did such a great job with coverage, not to just force their opinions on you, to let you think for yourself.
On that note, respect opinions. Just aregee to disagree really. There is no reason to tell someone that what they think is wrong.
I do agree though...I thought MS was better. Sony turned me off from getting a PS3.

OK, so Rush's album isn't here yet, and frankly, we're just as disappointed as you. Settling for a cover version of Tom Sawyer is doing little to improve our moods, but thankfully,... - Full Story
