OK, i called up game crazy and asked when they were getting more of the 20 gig xbox 360's in. He told that he didn't know and that microsoft is selling all the 20 gigs and is going to put out a 60 gig to replace it. This would explain the reason for the price drop, just sell all the 20 before the upgrade. Do you guys think that this is possible??

It's entirely possible especially now as they're not the only console on the market with a hard drive and they want to give consumers more for their money and to entice people to the 360

With sony having an 80 gig sku at 399.99. I hope the 60 gig xbox 360 get cheaper than 350.00.

The latest Major Nelson podcast confirms it. Makes sense, they are trying to push more and more marketplace features and people can't buy what they don't have room to store.

its already been confirmed by msft. They said the price reduction of the current pro model would be good while supplies last and that the 60gb model will be launched in aug. Yes I agree that the 60gb should be at least $300 if not lower. They haven't said anythhing about that yet and are sticking to the $350 price. Last year around the 11th of aug, they dropped the price of there units to coincide with maddenoliday. They were tight lipped about it, and during E3 they said that they didn't need to drop the price. Maybe we will see the same thing this year.

In another tibid of news, when asked about the 20gb, a rep made comments something to the like that it would only be untill supplies last. Asked if the 20gb was discontinued, they said they were looking at that and if it continues to sell well and another sku wasn't introduced (excluding the 80gb) then they might continue making the 20gb units.

The real test will be to see if the 20g will sell better than the Arcade allowing MS to rethink that SKU. It's more than likely that will happen as most of the retailers bundle games with the 20g model.

I'm sure i heard that ms said the price drop was to clear 20gb models then the 60gb model would be introduced at the old 20gb price, i am 80% certain this is what has been said

I believe this is the EXACT reason why they lowered the 20 gig so they can get rid of it off the shelves. Just like how sony did with their 60 gig.

they should get rid of the arcade all together so all of their sku's will have a harddrive. I really dought that the arcade unit is selling very well

the reason they made the arcade unit was so they could have a system on the market that would get to the $199 and lower price points as soon as possible...that is when you hit mass market. The people that buy the system at those prices are most likely not hardcore gamers. It is only the hardcore gamers crying about the arcade system. Does it really hurt you if you own a pro. The entire idea that you can't cache info on the HD, so developers won't do it is now bogus with the announcement that after the fall update gamers will have the option to install the game to there HD or not. They also have loosened up the reins on forcing companies to not require hd.

So why do people still bitch about it? You aren't the market they are making the arcade for. The reasons for being pissed about having a tard sku are now/soon will be gone.

Once the 60gb is out they may release a model to replace the arcade unit with say a 8-10gb HD. though i dont expect to see a 60gb model instore still at least october

I think they just need to keep the 20 60 and 120 gig sku's and get rid of the arcade.

I went to amazon.com and they said you could pre order the 60g to be delivered on tuesday, August 5th
