New policy on signatures 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hi everyone-

I'm here to let you know about our new policy on signatures. I mentioned this in the Forum Feedback thread a while ago, so hopefully this isn't too big of a surprise to anyone.

We've seen a lot of sigs come up, and we're glad to see everyone customizing their profiles and making things a little more personal!

With that said, we do need to implement a few rules about signatures. This is done partially for the sake of minimizing load times on threads, partially out of respect for your fellow readers.

So, here's the scoop.

- You are allowed a maximum of one image in your signature.
- Images can be a maximum of 425 width by 150 height.
- While you may include a link to another site, you may not include spam-links or referral codes in your signature.

We've seen a few profiles out there that currently don't meet these guidelines, including multiple images and some crazy width/length on those images. We'd like to ask you to please look at your signature for a minute and see if it meets the guidelines.

We still want you to have plenty of fun with your signature! If you're already using one of the MyGamerCard.net codes, most of those are fine. The only main templates on that site that won't work here are Crest and Cylinder.

These signature rules will be added into the official Forum rules, and we hope everyone understands why we're doing this. We want to make sure as many people as possible enjoy their time in the TalkingAboutGames forums.

Very resonable guidelines in my opinion. I just wanted to clearify however, if it's 150 pixels max could that include a sig, plus the mygamercard pic? As one that makes numerous sigs for the members I usually stick with 120 + 20 for the gamercard sig and just wanted to know if that was acceptable?

On another note (forgive me for nitpicking) is there anyway in your code you could remove the blue link borders on images? It's the only thing that makes the site pop less.

Aside from that, thanks for hearing me out and keep up the great work. Love this site!

On the 150 pixel max, that only applies to the image. You're allowed to write text as well, but there's a character limit there.

As far as the blue link borders, I'll look at that, but make no promises. It's very likely a coding thing.

Regarding signatures, do you think it's possible to add an option to disable them altogether? While I understand many people like them (which is fine), I find them very distracting.

The current software package we're using doesn't offer that option, but the upgrade we're hoping to do within the next month or two will have that option, and a LOT more.

No. Later in the year, you'll have the option to stop viewing the signatures of others.

I think this might work
The blue border should dissappear if you apply this css code
<img src="yourimage.jpg" style="border-style: none"/>
or this one

<img src="yourimage.jpg" border="0">

Re:New policy on signatures 5 Months, 1 Week ago
Just to let everyone know, anyone that has requested any signatures from me recently I will have to regretfully decline. I'm feeling a little burnt out lately doing the Photoshop thing and will be taking a break. I apologize for the inconvenience.
