I'm not sure I like the idea that the smoke monster reacts differently to different people. I don't mind being kept in the dark but I don't appreciate having the rules rewritten. It feels too much like the writers are just making stuff up as they go along (which might be the case for all I know).

Of course, that could also just mean that the black smoke is an intelligent being that has its own reasons for what it does... that would be cool.

New Black Smoke Theory: it's really one of the demons that Sam and Dean accidentally let loose in Supernatural. Seriously, someone stole someone else's special effect, I'm sure of it.

See I've always wanted the Monster to be free of everything else, but when the scene popped up and showed Ben "summoning" the monster, It was a little disheartening.

I think Ben called the smoke but doesn't control it. It may be attracted to certain types of signals, like a particular audio frequency. The sonic fence held it back, maybe some other sound attracts it. This is just speculation, but it has a certain logic.

Like the rest of you I was surprised and disappointed that the mercs showed back up. Maybe there were so many that it just couldn't kill them all.

As TPA noted, we had learned earlier that Christian was Claire's father. What was answered that we didn't know is that Jack knows (or will know - it was in the flash forward) that Claire is his half-sister. When he gets angry at Kate and she mentions Aaron as her son, he notes that she isn't even family.

I don't think Ben is working with the merc's. While we can question a lot of what he says and does, I think he was serious when he told Widmore he would kill Penelope because Widmore had had Alex killed. He referred to this as "changing the rules." Widmore also never objects saying that he didn't have her killed or that he didn't change the rules.

I'm sure we would have had Supernatural cross-overs in the Zombie season (season 7) if they hadn't decided to end Lost with season 6.

I seemed to remember that Jack and Claire were related... I just couldn't remember where it happened of it just made sense in a Lost sort of way.

I like the idea that Ben doesn't actually control the black smoke but was somehow able to lure it to where it wanted it to be. When the merc made Alex disable the fence, the black smoke was the first thing I thought of. And you're right, Des... if a certain frequency can keep it away it makes a kind of sense that another frequency could summon it.

On an unrelated note, I'm glad they've said they're gonna run for six seasons. It gives the series a timeline and a definite end point. I just hope they don't decide after six that they want to continue.

I don't think they'll go beyond 6 seasons. The producers are clear (as clear as they could be) that they have been fighting (they would say "in discussion") with ABC to get a definitive end date for the series. I will be extremely disappointed if they go beyond season 6.

I'm a LOST fan. Hate to just jump in here, but wanted to get it out there. I have heard ^ that they've already finished writing the story and will only have 6 seasons total. It is a perfect number for a series. Not too long or too short.

The individual episodes have not been written, but the main producers (at least claim to) have had a plan from the start. They had to tread water for a while until ABC would agree to an end date. ABC did shortly before the end of season three, agreeing to 3 more years with 16 episodes each. How the writer's strike and the loss of some of those 16 episodes will affect the remaining two season's is questionable at this point.

Yup. According to tv.com, the final two episodes, There's No Place Like Home parts 1 and 2 will air on May 29.

"Cabin Fever" was a great episode, even if it does raise more questions than it answered.

For example, does Locke's choosing wrong on the knife mean he is a chosen one, but not the chosen one?

Both Locke and Ben had rough births and were not raised by their biological mothers; their relationships with their fathers were not good. Does this contribute to their not being the one? Is this why Claire was supposed to raise Aaron? If so, what does it mean that Kate is now raising Aaron?

How do you move an island?

Anyone have answers or other questions we should be thinking about?

Ben's and Locke's mother have the same name: Emily. Is it possible that they are the same mom and that Ben and Locke are related?

Also, it looks like the island has already been moving. The coordinates to leave and come to the island have changed from 325 to 305. The time delay on and off the island has gone from 30 minutes to whatever the time was between the survivors finding the doctor's body to when the doctor got killed and the time it took to get to the island.

The island moving also explains how Mr. Eko's drug plane could get from Africa to the island, and perhaps it explains the connection to polar bears.

Maybe it is also possible that the island is also moving through time as well.

I have no idea how one would go about moving an island.
