Review: Bionic Commando: Rearmed
If you ever had the opportunity to play the original Bionic Commando on the NES in 1988, you know how painfully difficult the game can be. You probably could have fed everyone in the world if you had a nickel for every time you cursed Capcom’s name.... - Read the full review
In this episode of Remember When, Parris sits down with guest host JVB as they discuss Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon, Boyz in the Hood, Menace 2 Society, Breakin 1 & 2, Krush Groove, and House Party. They also reminisce about sneaking out of the house as teenagers, and their love for movies at an early age.

You've asked for it. You've waited for it. You've sent us dozens of emails about it, wondering when it was coming. And now, after months of waiting, it's finally here.
Presenting Remember When's tribute to The Dark Knight. We've seen it, more than once. But did we love it? Listen to this week's show as we review what is arguably the best movie of the year.
We start out reviewing The Dark Knight, even going over some of the problems we feel could have been trimmed out of the movie. We analyze one of the best performances from an actor (ever), and talk about some of the jaw dropping moments where we almost needed a change of pants.
Of course, it's not Remember When without our tangents, so we stick to what we do best. We look back on the old Batman movies (even the Adam West one) and talk about why they're still relevant, even if they don't necessarily hold up over time. And yes, we even talk about how other comic book movies are going to be hurt because of The Dark Knight.
This episode is filled with spoilers, so if you haven't seen The Dark Knight yet, you might want to jump to 1:17:32 to get past the majority of our spoiler discussion as we start talking about older shows.

Just because it's the weekend before E3 doesn't mean we're leaving our
Remember When listeners in the dark. We proudly present Episode 7 of
the geekiest podcast available.
We start off the show with a spoiler-y discussion on Wall-E (14:30 to
25:45) then jump into the focus of this episode: Mel Brooks. We spend the rest of the episode talking
about three of Mel's classic films: Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs, and
Young Frankenstein. Don't worry, there's tangents galore here.
We also tangent off at the end of the show to talk about one of Jay's favorite franchises, Firefly (1:00:45).
Are you in the Los Angeles area? Would you like to come meet us and
chat with us for a few minutes? We'll be at the Universal Citywalk on
Thursday, July 17th from 8pm to 10pm. Come on out and say Hello, talk
to us, and hang out.
If you dig the show, please take a few seconds and help us by leaving a
review on iTunes, so that we can reach more people. Also, you can send us your comments at

The fantastic summer movie season continues, and we kick off Episode Six with a tangent. Hey, better to get them out of the way early, right?
Jay's got a special surprise for Parris, which leads to a discussion about a recent movie (10:00 to 29:40).
The rest of the show is dedicated to John Hughes' career. Jay watched Sixteen Candles and Weird Science and gives us his opinions on them. Parris talks about his crush from Ferris Bueller, and our opinions on the rest of the John Hughes movies.
Episode Seven is being dedicated to Mel Brooks' movies, so be sure and check us out in a few weeks.

The summer movie season has kicked off, and it seems only fitting that
our new show is dedicated to one of the quintessential adventure
franchises: Indiana Jones. We start off with our discussion
on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the latest
release in the Indiana Jones series. After almost 20 years, is Indiana
Jones still awesome? We also talk about the rest of the Indiana Jones
series, our favorite moments, and the parts we just really hated. If
you're looking to avoid spoilers for Crystal Skull, fast forward to
21:20, when most of the spoilers are out of the way.
... wait, that's not enough? OK, we'll throw in a few tangents for you!
Jay watched The Iron Giant, but did he like it? Parris gives us his crazy (but good) theory on who the Final Cylon is in Battlestar Galactica. The season finale for Lost comes up, with a spoiler filled discussion as well. (52:00 to 1:13:20)

In this special episode, which was captured during a recent recording of UncleGamer Live, we offer up an impromptu Live chat for Remember When. After we finished the UncleGamer show, Parris and I took calls from some of our listeners asking about recent show topics and our movie interests. It was a fun chance to connect with our listeners, and we hope you enjoy it.
It's a bit different than usual, but it was a fun experience for us.
This endeavor is being considered for a future segment, where we'd do a 'real' Live show with anyone able to participate. So please, send us your comments at

Our third episode kicks off with Jay's opinions on Caddyshack. Yes, he finally sat down and watched it. What was his take on it? Find out at the start of the show.
We also had a chance to see the new release of Iron Man this past weekend. Does Marvel's newest superhero flick live up to expectations? We also tangent off into a discussion about the upcoming cavalcade of summer movies, and the awesome releases coming over the next few months (as well as the less-than-awesome ones)
The new trailers for The Dark Knight and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls debuted this week, and we geek out over each of them.
As a cautionary note, the Iron Man discussion contains a ton of spoilers for the movie. If you haven't seen it yet, skip from the start of the discussion to the 35:15 mark, which places you outside of the spoiler blast radius.
We really appreciate our listeners, and if you enjoy our show, we hope you'll take 60 seconds out of your day and leave us a positive review on iTunes. Also, if you've got questions, or just want to send in your thoughts on our show,

Talking About Games is pleased to announce the launch of Remember When, the geek podcast inspired by the UncleGamer geek outs. This show is dedicated to all the TV shows, movies, and other geekery from the present and past that make us such pop culture nerds.
Our first episode covers the debate on The Shield vs. The Office, the return of Battlestar Galactica, and Jay's naivety towards the goodness of Caddyshack.
As this is our 'pilot' episode, we'd appreciate hearing from you. Do
you enjoy this show? If so, please
