The basic idea here is pretty exciting. Finally, we get a chance to play as the evil apprentice of Darth Vader, destroying everyone and everything in our path. We’re unstoppably powerful, and we know it. How cool is that?! The problem, though, lies in the...

Written by Jay "Skittles" Van Beveren
Tuesday, 02 September 2008

After Phoenix410's interview on Left 4 Dead and Gears 2 was finished, we kept the cameras rolling for a few extra minutes to see if any random hilarity might ensue.

And thank goodness we did, because the resulting five minutes of video led to some of the funniest stuff to come out of PAX.

We won't spoil the fun for you by giving any details. Just watch and enjoy!

Written by Jay "Skittles" Van Beveren
Monday, 01 September 2008

Phoenix410 from the Post Game Report (and head dude of Team Woot) sat down with us for a few minutes to talk about his experiences with Left 4 Dead and Gears of War 2, which were two of his favorite games on the show room floor at this year's PAX.

He also tells us a true story about how Morgan Webb from G4 unceremoniously cut in front of him in line at Gears of War 2.

Be sure and come back tomorrow for Part 2 of our video interview with Phoenix, which has quite possibly one of the funniest moments of PAX 2008.

Written by Jay "Skittles" Van Beveren
Sunday, 31 August 2008

Although she's not a member of Talking About Games (at least, not yet... she's joining us the next time she can get to a computer), we managed to corral this dressed up Harley Quinn into having lunch with us.

More than a simple cosplayer, Harley (real name: Cat) is a gamer at heart.  We sit and talk about what she plays, what she thinks of PAX, and why she got into the Harlequin outfit.

We also with a very happy birthday to Post Game Report co-host Phoenix410.

It's Larry Marcum's first year at PAX, and the experience here can be overwhelming at times.  As we stand in line waiting for the PAX doors to open, Larry tells us what games he's looking forward to the most, and how excited he is to be a part of this year's festivities.

We also give you a first look at the inside of the PAX exhibition hall, where gaming companies from across the globe have gathered to show off their upcoming titles.

PAX 2008: Major Nelson shows off 'dance moves' PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jay "Skittles" Van Beveren
Friday, 29 August 2008

We admit it, we're fans of Schadenfreude.  But when we saw Major Nelson at PAX earlier today, getting on stage to take part in a four player dancing minigame for Raving Rabbids TV Party, our video camera came flying out of its holster faster than you could say "Billy the Kid".  We may not be psychic, but we can see amusing stuff from a mile away.

What resulted was a funny and enjoyable little romp as The Maj shows off his dance skills.  Or lack thereof.   Seriously Larry, you've gotta move those hips!

We'll be back with more PAX videos as the weekend continues!

It's in the game: EA responds, tastefully, to Tiger Woods glitch PDF Print E-mail
Written by Phil "SempraFi" Meza
Wednesday, 20 August 2008

File this one under "Just because it's funny." Rarely, and I do mean rarely, do you get to see a real sense of humor come from a corporate giant like EA.

Last year's iteration of Tiger Woods PGA Tour golf had an alleged glitch which was discovered by a forum user; a glitch which he then filmed and threw up on good old YouTube for all to see and [hopefully] proclaim "incomplete game" alongside him. This glitch, you see, had Tiger himself standing on the course...but on the body of water, not the grass. Like Jesus, this user thought. EA have concocted their own video as a response, and have effectively "won the internet" for the day. Bravo, EA. Bravo.

Wii Music gets Twisted PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jay "Skittles" Van Beveren
Tuesday, 19 August 2008

Have you been wary of Wii Music, Nintendo's not-quite-a-rhythm-game that blends music with random button presses and Wiimote flailing?  We can't say we blame you.

So if you've been on the fence with Wii Music, wondering what might coerce you to drop $50 on the latest in the Nintendo casual lineup for the Wii, perhaps Sarcastic Gamer's latest video will help push you over the edge.  This promotional video highlights all the awesome things about Wii Music, and yet still manages to have over two minutes of material.

Mega Man 9 intro hits the web, forgets about the uncanny valley PDF Print E-mail
Written by Addam Kearney
Thursday, 14 August 2008

Yesterday, we highlighted some of the bosses that would be appearing in Mega Man 9.  Today, however, the fine people at Capcom have earned my purchase on day one after seeing this intro for the game.

The trailer shows the unique twist on the series’ plot.  While the game still looks to have Doctor Wily as the antagonist, Doctor Wily seems to be framing Doctor Light by taking control of his robots, causing chaos with them.  When the world needs a hero, Mega Man answers the call, vowing to “do something about those robots!”  The trailer features text that doesn’t scroll (meaning you need to wait for the text to “catch up”) and the most amount of action is when the sky darkens and you see “explosions”.
