At this time, this is but an unsubstantiated rumor, with both parties involved having been contacted for comment. The ESA and the E3 Summit were dealt a huge blow last week when Activision, the largest publisher in the U.S., and Vivendi were confirmed to be leaving the ESA as members of the organization. As well, the publisher, along with several others, had withdrawn their E3 attendance.
Today, GamePolitics discovered that on the list of current ESA participants, major player LucasArts is no longer listed. While we have no idea if the publisher of titles like Star Wars The Force Unleashed is still with the group or not right now, they are (at least as of this afternoon) still listed as attending E3 in July. Regardless, something is very wrong here, folks. No one can seem to put their finger on it exactly, but something is wrong, and it's going to have huge ramificaions on the gaming industry in the coming year. Comments from both LucasArts and the ESA are currently being waited on. Let's hope this is just some technical glitch on the part of the ESA website.
