Right before the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, the Guinness World Record association announced that they were "keeping a close eye" on the game's release, as it had the potential to shatter sales records like Niko Bellic shatters skulls. Today, it was confirmed that Rockstar and Take-Two managed to not only have one of the best (and fastest) selling games of this generation thus far, but they also defeated Microsoft's Halo 3 campaign as the "biggest entertainment release of all time."
GTA IV has been entered into the record books with the awards of "Highest Grossing Video Game in 24 Hours" and "Highest Revenue
Generated by an Entertainment Product in 24 Hours". Well done, Rockstar. Your $310 million of revenue in one day was well deserved. Full announcement after the jump.
