The latest issue of the Japanese magazine, Famitsu, has unloaded a wealth of new in-game screenshots and artowrk for Capcom's Resident Evil 5. We've not seen much in the way of "new" in the game since the initial trailer was released at E3 2007 - to much fanfare. Working through the article and translating it, it's discovered that a new trailer for the game is scheduled to be released sometime before E3 in July. When this happens, consider me excited.
We can see that there is now a new female character, looking a lot like Ada Wong and Jill Valentine thrown in a blender. Is she a protagonist, antagonist? According to the details, sunlight and darkness will heavily play off each other; the latter requiring careful use of flashlights and shadows, where as sunlit areas will be scorched, and near blinding at times. It's also revealed that once again, even though the series is moving to more realistic environment, the good old "hugley powerful bosses" are returning. Examples of such harken back to Code Veronica's Nosferatu, and Lisa Trevor from the original title's GameCube remake. Capcom looks to be bringing their technology into primetime witrh RE5, as the character models alone are nothing short of amazing. I still detect a hint of MGS4-inspiration the levels.
