It's really not looking good for the folks at Gamespot anymore. Just today, Kotaku received word that yet another long-time reviwer for the site has decided to leave his position. Alex Navarro, video reviewer, co-host for the HotSpot podcast and frequent guest star on OntheSpot, verified through Editorial Director Ricardo Torres that his last day at the company will be January 24th.
That's straight up terrible news for the site, as Kotaku points out they are "woefully understaffed" in the reviews department, not to mention the fact that their credibility is bleeding dry as more and more employees high tail it. Torres stated the site will quickly attempt to fill open positions. Hear that all you would-be reviewers? Now's the time to flood Gamespot with your quickly scribbled resume. Torres also said that they are constantly getting support emails from long time fans saying they "won't give up" on the site just yet. He said they're trying their best to simply move on with life and get past the recent mishaps. That's a lot of work.
We owe it to the site and our readers who support it.
No confirmation yet if the move has any relation to either the firing of Jeff Gerstmann, or the recent departure of Frank Povo, but it's possible that both Alex and Jeff may work on future projects together. God knows everyone wishes them the best of luck.
