In case you had to think about that for a second...the correct answer was "no." Even though Bungie confirmed that their new project's announcement was canned by their publisher (a project which may or may not have been the following), Microsoft's Don Mattrick has come out and confirmed that one of the studio's new endeavors is indeed another official Halo title for the Xbox 360. Not Halo Wars. Not the Peter Jackson project. Halo 4? A new outing not starring Master Chief? No word just yet. What about the Superintendent?
As it turns out, what we heard through the grapevine after the fact was true...the new Halo was supposed to be present during the Microsoft press conference on Monday, but the company yanked it from the roster at the last minute for organizational reasons and time constraints. Wah wah. On the bright side...Microsoft and Bungie are planning to reveal the new title during "a dedicated event." PAX, maybe? Leipzig? Hmm...
Master Chief : The Chronicles. A game that occurs before HALO 1. Either that, or a game with a very very kick ass Marine that intermingles with the Chiefs lore. Either way, or with something new... when can I pre-order it?
Well, morenachos, Halo Wars is 20 years before Halo:CE, but also like you said, they can be doing it from Reach or other planets form the books like Halo: Fall of Reach.
