In addition to the long-awaited Banjo Kazooie 3, and inevitable Killer Instinct 3, Rare is rumored to be delving into the XBLA arena this year with one or two titles ( aside from the rumored re-release of the Banjo franchise).
Xbox360Fanboy claims to have gotten some "exclusive" information on the first title, which they say is called The Fast & the Furriest. Not only is the title headed to the place of Microsoft Points and HDD space, but it'll utilize the Vision Camera. Hear those gasps of amazement?
Xbox360Fanboy states that The Fast & the Furriest is a party sports Arcade game that shall feature some of Rare's iconic characters as wearable " mascot suits"- like Conker, or Banjo. So, basically, think your Wii avatar wearing a costume. The game "will feature all kinds of sports based mini-games that include a 100 meter dash, bungee run, hurdles and tip-tup curling. Rare also has plans to release XBLM content packs that'll expand the event offerings including croquet, bowling, volleyball, fishing and various target games."
The interesting part of the story is that it's said that you'll be able to play nearly all of the games with nothing but the Vision cam. Hmm. You'll use the camera to scan your face onto your avatar ala Rainbow Six: Vegas as well, only to see the resulting image sticking out of the opening of your chosen character suit. "Taking the whole face mapping thing a step further, they'll be using character faces as in game assets appearing on scoreboards and reflecting off objects like ice." Rare also apparently prototyped a Wii-like control system using a "wand type input device", but thankfully chose to scrap that because of tech issues.
X3F corroborates Team Xbox's story that we may be seeing a special gesture device in the future though, but not from a third party developer. Note to Microsoft: motion controls on 360= DO NOT WANT. As of now, that's all that is known about the game. "It is real, is planned for the XBLA and in development by Rare." Release date is TBD, no screenshots, no nothing, just presentation materials. Sounds interesting, doesn't it? It sounds a lot like WiiSports- meets- Fusion Frenzy. I'll give it a shot.~
