We already are well aware of the fact that Crytek has a fully optimized version of the CryENGINE 2 running on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but why? Of course, the most obvious reason is the rumored impending port of the previously PC-only Crysis, which was pseudo-confirmed at GDC. Today, Trademork brings a recent trademark into notice, which lends further proof to the existence of the console title. On March 3rd, Crytek filed to trademark "Crysis Warhead " with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, which mentions...
Computer games software and electronic games,
namely, software games recorded on CD-ROM and DVDs and other physical
media, and cartridges for computers, consoles and individual, portable
gaming systems
...among many other descriptors. Naturally, one can safely assume that this applies to a name for something Crysis related. Could it be the name of the PC's sequel, already confirmed to be development? Possibly, but filings for Crysis Wars and World in Crysis have also been made over a year ago, which very well could be the 2nd and 3rd sequel titles in their own right.
It's more likely that Crysis Warhead is a possible title for the game's console iteration. "Warhead" could be the game's noun, which is something that the Far Cry Xbox ports all received in their day. Then again, this could apply to something completely different and totally irrelevant to either case, but using some general logic, I doubt that. Crytek has not issued any comment on the news at this time, but it's looking more and more like E3 will be a very, very curious event for the company.
