Remember last night when Soul Calibur IV was confirmed for July 29th? Pfft....that's nothing. Old school fighting game players want the original, don't they? Namco Bandai realizes that there is still a small place in gamers' hearts for the classic Dreamcast Soul Calibur, so they're reviving it for Xbox Live Arcade sometime this Summer (along with new title Infinitum). The Sega Dreamcast lives!...sort of.

At this time, no additonal tidbits of information are known other than the fact Namco Bandai plans to port the game in its entirety (all original characters and modes), plus add online leaderboards to the mix for next-gen fighting fans. Xbox Live online multiplayer, achievements and more are all TBD, but nearly guaranteed to be included. Soul Calibur re-released with nothing more than split-screen...in this day and age? Fail. Don't let us down, Namco Bandai. Please.

Announcement after the jump.

That small place in gamers hearts is actually mighty large if I don't say so myself.

The original Soul Calibur was a great game. The fluency of the characters' movements make this game one of my all time favorites.
