Since I can’t spend every weeknight at the bars playing “Name That Molina” for beer money, I’m inevitably left in need of another trivia outlet. Luckily for me, the U.S. Sports Quiz Pack, the tenth piece of DLC for Buzz! Quiz TV, has come along to satiate my sports trivia lust. It may not help pay the tab at the end of the night, but it definitely lowers the risk of fist fights resulting from arguments over the embarrassment that is the designated hitter.

But can the stake be TOO high?
The U.S. Sports Quiz Pack adds more than 500 questions to the vast library of Buzz! Quiz TV. Sure, there is already a sports category on the game disc, but its questions are far too broad. As Americans, we can’t be bothered with trivia related to foreign athletics. With the U.S. Sports Quiz Pack, gamers can finally satisfy their need for self-centered pastime minutia.
However, the real deciding factor for any trivia pack lies in its difficulty. Will sports aficionados be able to experience the same amount of enjoyment as a casual sports fan?
Fortunately, the U.S. Sports Quiz Pack’s array of questions vary widely in their degree of aggravation. You’ll encounter a nice mix of simple trivia and head-scratchers, with various shades of gray in between. In fact, compared to the questions that come preloaded on the game disc, the U.S. Sports Quiz Pack is probably a bit more difficult overall.

More importantly, the various questions spread across many decades of sports history. You’ll be quizzed on everything from Gaylord Perry and his career in the 1960s to the Florida Gators’ national championships in 2007. For the younger audience, there’s plenty of content about extreme sports and recent athletic achievements. There are even some questions about bobsledding and other lesser known Olympic sports. Less knowledgeable gamers will likely find this question pack a bit more frustrating, but there’s still some content that will feel familiar. If you’ve tuned to ESPN at any point in the last few years, there’s bound to be a few questions that will make you feel like a sporting connoisseur.
Sports? Pie? Count me in!
The U.S. Sports Quiz Pack meshes pretty nicely with the standard sports questions already included in Buzz! Quiz TV. In fact, they probably make sports categories a bit more challenging during larger trivia games. And of course, you’ll always have the opportunity to turn off certain sets of questions for your local matches, just in case you want your sports categories to focus solely on American athletics.
If you consider yourself sports fan of any kind, you owe it to yourself to pick up this piece of DLC for Buzz! Quiz TV. Sure, there may be some frustrating moments. But if nothing else, you’re bound to learn a few extra facts to stump your buddies.
