It’s a pretty good week to own a Playstation Vita. Not only does Gravity Rush hit retailers today, so does Konami’s Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.
Featuring Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection features remastered graphics and optimized controls designed to take full advantage of the PlayStation Vita touchscreen capabilities.
“With Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, gamers will be impressed with the updated graphics and the ability to zoom and perform attacks by using just their fingers on the touch screen of the PlayStationVita system,” said Tomoyuki Tsuboi, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. It’s an exciting new way to experience the games Metal Gear Solid fans have known and loved for years.”
For those who also own the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on the PS3, save data can be transferred back and forth between the two versions.

Hot off of the heels of the reveal of Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2, Konami put up a short teaser for another game to end their show.
There was no title or real imagery aside blood washing over a white screen with some shrouded faces. The only thing to go by were the words “Chained by fate. Cursed by blood. Look into the mirror.” The last phrase was accompanied by June 5, E3 and a Nintendo 3DS logo.
“Cursed by blood” seems to be pointing towards a new Castlevania game for the 3DS but everything will likely by cleared up at Nintendo’s E3 Press Conference on June 5.
Konami’s Pre-E3 show last night did manage to pull in one surprise that many people likely weren’t expecting. A beautiful CG trailer was shown revealing Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2.
The trailer showed off a powerful vampire taking out legions of soldiers with a giant whip as he teleported around the battlefield. The vampire then transforms into a giant dragon to destroy a towering wooden machine. The trailer ends with a confrontation with a sword wielding, white haired man.
There was no information revealed apart from the trailer, perhaps more will come at E3. Check out the debut trailer below.
The highlight of Konami’s Pre-E3 show last night was a nice, lengthy look at the oft-dismayed Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. The game made a big splash two years ago at E3 before being set with problems. Now it has resurfaced yet again and looks to rekindle the same fire that it started back when it debuted.
Being developed my Platinum Games, Revengeance is being sold directly as an action game with a story Metal Gear fans will enjoy. Developers distinctly described how they wanted to recreate the feeling of Raiden’s great action scenes with the gameplay and the trailer shown certainly seems to be doing it justice.
The game looks quite similar to Ninja Gaiden in movement and combat with the big innovation being Raiden’s sword. Raiden appears to be able to cut through almost everything: structures, helicopters and more. There is even a great moment where Raiden cuts through a giant stone pillar to slice a man in half. There were also other weapons beyond his katana featured in the trailer including a rocket launcher.
Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is being marked as an early 2013 release and will be playable at E3. There was also a quick mention that an “Advanced Demo” would be included in the Zone of Enders HD Collection.
If you’re a Konami fan then you’re in luck. No need to wait until E3 to get a look at some of the company’s biggest upcoming releases. Taking place tonight, May 31st, 2012 at 10:30PM, Pacific Standard Time, will be Konami’s second annual Pre-E3 show.
The show has promised to “dazzle fans and gaming enthusiasts with advance showings of the new releases, exclusive game trailers and insightful interviews of key titles that will debut at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, CA.”
Check out some of the promotional posters that hint at the games that will be featured.
