Witness the "Reimagining" of Goldeneye in this new trailer PDF Print E-mail

The news of a Goldeneye remake was cool in concept but in reality I really wondered if people would want to go back to that style of game. After seeing this new "Reimagining" trailer I'm sold. The remake of Goldeneye 007 for Wii is not a simple higher resolution version of the game like the Perfect Dark XBLA port we saw earlier this year. This remake is an entirely new game with new mechanics, new levels and new gameplay.

Watching the video you will see all kinds of new things like stealth kills, what appears to be a mission set in a club and a complete revamp of the finale. It really looks like Goldeneye 007 is going to be a much different game than the Nintendo 64 classic and in this day and age I think that's a beautiful idea.

In the continuing series of Brink developer diaries the latest one, number four, brings us a bit softer look at the game as the team at Splash Damage describes how Brink ended up in its "hyper-realistic" art style. They also talk about a few of the unique areas in the game and where they drew inspiration from. Plus they proudly proclaim that they are bringing color back to first person shooters. Check it out below.

The first two developer diaries for Brink discussed the game's story and the Parkour-like S.M.A.R.T. system in the game. Diary number three sees the guys at Splash Damage discussing the genre-bending going on inside Brink. The goal of the developers is to bring a cool narrative structure to the idea of a multiplayer game. The way Brink handles that is by using an AI squad leader who assigns dynamic missions to everyone that's playing. No two players are going to see the same types of missions to accept and the missions will change to match what's going on at the time and what other players are doing. To be honest it sounds similar to the AI director in Left 4 Dead but taken to a whole new level.

Whether you're playing on-line or off-line with friends or by yourself it sounds like Brink is going to be offering a unique mission structure that hasn't been seen before.

The first developer diary for Brink detailed the unique story that players would find in the game. The second developer diary gives some insight into the intriguing movement system in Brink. The S.M.A.R.T. (Smooth Move ment Across Random Terrain) system allows for all kinds of Parkour-type moves like wall-running and sliding under obstacles. The system looks like it will allow players to use their environments to traverse the world in newer and easier ways than ever before seen in a first person shooter.

THQ VP Danny Bilson talks Red Faction: Armageddon PDF Print E-mail

In case you haven't noticed, THQ is now in the habit of making some good games. Darksiders, Red Faction: Guerilla, and the UFC Undisputed series have all been commercial and critical successes in the last couple of years. All this from a publisher who used to be seemingly solely associated with wrestling and kids games.

THQ VP Danny Bilson wants the quality to continue and sits down to talk about THQ's next high-profile release, Red Faction: Armageddon. He discusses some of the key differences between Armageddon and Guerilla and talks about the plans for the franchise as a whole.

As someone who really loved Guerilla, I'm seriously looking forward to Armageddon. Take a look at the video below and let us know if Red Faction: Armageddon will be on your list of games to pick up in 2011. It certainly is on mine.

Brink developer's diary: The Last Stand PDF Print E-mail

Brink is one of those games that I would really like to see succeed just because it is trying to do something new. While there is nothing original about FPS multiplayer, Brink is unique because it merges the ubiquitous multiplayer with the game's story-driven campaign. That means that there are no options at the menu screen between single- or multiplayer; you experience the game's story at the same time you're playing against other people. It's a fascinating idea, and one I hope is successfully implemented into a great game.

Anyway, here is "The Last Stand," Brink's first developer's diary from Splash Damage. This one focuses on the game's story, and particularly the ambiguous nature of the conflict between game's two rival factions, Resistance and Security. According to the guys at Splash Damage, neither faction is particularly villainous, and both have strong reasons to fight for their cause. As one of them says, no one in a war ever thinks they're a bad guy. Whether or not that's the case will only be learned when the game ships next spring.

But seriously, Splash Damage: why does your video share a title with that lousy X-Men movie?

In "Behind Closed Doors Part 4” the developers of Splinter Cell Conviction give an inside look at the conspiracy surrounding Sam Fisher's former employer Third Echelon.

Splinter Cell Conviction, will allow you to unleash the ferocious skills of renegade agent Sam Fisher and uncover a deadly terrorist plot. Based on its acclaimed values of tension and top-notch realism, Conviction re-invents its own standards by offering a unique mix of stealth action and spectacular gameplay.

Conviction is a story of how elite government agent, Sam Fisher, turned the bitterness of his past into the fuel to drive his quest for answers. For years, Fisher has been off the grid and on his own, chasing his daughter's murderer. But the trail leads him to Washington D.C. the last place he ever wanted to see again. Now Sam must stand against vast, faceless enemies and battle the corrupt government agency that made him into the merciless warrior he's come to be. Free from constraints, he must now outwit, outmaneuver, and outgun his enemies to get what he's seeking: the truth.

Look for Splinter Cell Conviction on April 13th, 2010, exclusively for the Xbox 360 and PC.

Ubisoft Montreal has just released three developer diary videos, detailing the multiplayer experience for Tom Clany's Splinter Cell Conviction.

In part one, we learn about the co-op campaign and the events that lead up to Sam Fisher's mission in the singleplayer campaign. In part two, we learn about the Deniable Ops mode and how it has replaced the Spy vs Merc multiplayer modes from previous Splinter Cell titles. And finally in part three, we learn about Persistant Elite Creation and why it is to your advantage to be a completionist in Conviction.

Coming this April to the Xbox 360 and PC, Splinter Cell Conviction is shaping up to be an incredible co-op experience and something I cannot wait to get my hands on.

After the jump, look for parts two and three of this developer diary.
