2 minutes of gameplay footage from Super Mario Galaxy 2 PDF Print E-mail

Not sure how long this will last, but someone has managed to grab 2 minutes of gameplay footage for Super Mario Galaxy 2, most likely from yesterday's Nintendo Summit.

First off, the game is gorgeous, showing off what the graphical capabilities of the Wii and reminding us that yes Nintendo makes great looking games too. Not to mention, the use of Yoshi in a 3D world and the new drill feature makes for brand new 3D platforming experiences that we have all come to expect from our favorite Italian plumber.

Look for Super Mario Galaxy 2 on May 23rd, 2010.

Splinter Cell Conviction walkthrough video PDF Print E-mail

I understand the long term benefits of a game's release date being pushed back, but that doesn't stop me from shedding a tear every time I think about the Splinter Cell Conviction delay. The latest walkthrough video doesn't exactly help things.

All the previous information shown at E3 2009 is visible in the video including the unique presentation style, the 'Mark and Execute' feature and the 'Last Known Position' mechanic. You might be interested in seeing how the game handles stealth and the sections that require, let's just say, a more offensive approach. Oh, and one more thing, Sam is rocking the iconic Splinter Cell goggles.

Be sure to check back with TAG because there are probably going to be a lot more videos to hold us over until the game's Xbox 360 release on February 10, 2010.

New mode announced for Left 4 Dead 2 PDF Print E-mail

It looks like Left 4 Dead 2 will have an additional mode besides the well known Campaign, Versus and Survival modes. Called Scavenge, Valve's designer Chuck Faliszek describes the mode as "competitive (like Versus), but less time intensive."

Basically, the goal of Scavenge is to pour as much fuel (from sixteen canisters scattered around the level) into a centrally located generator. The mode consists of six rounds (each round is two minutes) where players spend three rounds as infected and three rounds as survivors. A point and 20 seconds are added by pouring a canister into the generator. The winner is decided by who has the most points at the end of the six rounds. Just to make things interesting, if a player is holding a gas canister as time expires, the game enters overtime. Overtime ends when the survivor holding the fuel pours it into the generator or drops the canister. The game will ship with six Scavenge mode maps which are modified versions of the campaign maps.

Check out Scavenge mode in action and let us know what you think.

New Tekken 6 Videos - Cardboard Tube Samurai PDF Print E-mail

Well, PAX has been over for almost a week, and it's taken about that long to fend off what people are calling PAX Plague or PAX Pox. To help alleviate this hardship, we've been treated to two new Tekken 6 videos featuring the Cardboard Tube Samurai! Appropriate, considering who runs the show at PAX, no?

What's interesting with these two videos is that the first shows off the CTS in the game's extensive Campaign mode. It looks like you can take on multiple enemies with or without a partner, string attacks in massive chains as well as acquire items. It should bring that much more replayability to a game already filled to the brim with content.

The second video shows off Yoshimitsu in the garb of the Cardboarded one with his signature moveset. How does he cause any damage with just a cardboard tube? Maybe he's just that good.

Remember, if you'd like to utilize this outfit, you'll need to pre-order the game from GameStop or Amazon before the game's release on October 27th!

Normally, we are not big fans of leaks but when the leak in question is Modern Warfare 2, one might have to make an exception. Check out the shaky video below from a Game Crazy employee event. Who knew video game store employees got inside information?

Personally, I did not watch the complete video for fear of spoilers. Consider this your first and last warning.

New Scibblenauts trailer shows off its praises PDF Print E-mail

Unless you've been under a rock, you've heard of Scribblenauts, the wildly original and innovative DS title from 5th Cell and Warner Bros. Interactive. It's gotten heaps of praise lauded upon it, and with good reason. This new trailer released today shows that off a little bit, touting all of the awards the game has gotten, to further hype up its release on September 15th.

While normally a self-serving video like this could be looked upon as nothing but hype fuel, they do show a bit of gameplay as well. If you've ever wanted to see Abraham Lincoln use a minigun, this is the video for you!

Flipnote Studio lets you create your own cartoon on DSi... for free! [UPDATED] PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joshua Mayfield

Do you remember the animation studio from Mario Paint? It was a fun little tool that was unfortunately limited by a maximum of 9 frames of animation and the hardware of the SNES itself. While it was indeed a bit small in scope, it was fun, and Nintendo is continuing the tradition by delivering Flipnote Studio on DSiWare.

Now available at no cost to consumers, Flipnote Studio lets you use an intuitive interface to animate a series of your own drawings much like a flipbook. It works in a really interesting way. You start by drawing a picture for the first frame, and when you start your next frame, there is an outline/overlay of your previous image to help keep your drawings consistent. Then when you're done with your drawings, the software animates them into a small cartoon, or Flipnote, as the game calls it.

While this in and of itself makes for a potentially addictive and fun experience, that's not all. Since the DSi has a sound application built into the system, you can use that to add a soundtrack to your Flipnotes. There is also an entire social community set up at http://flipnote.hatena.com/. Once you register there, you can upload your creations, as well as take a look at other people's masterpieces and utilize the DSi's SD card slot to save them.

All in all, this little app sounds like it could provide hours of fun, and since it's also free, there is nothing stopping you from creating the next Homestar Runner or Happy Tree Friends!

Update: We got our hands on a tutorial video showing what you can do with the title. Have a look if you're not yet convinced!
